I always thought it was 'mamby pamby' ??? wacko.gif

Namby Pamby is a term for affected, weak, and maudlin speech/verse. However, its origins are in Namby Pamby (1725), by Henry Carey.

gotta love wikipedia.... tongue.gif

I remember when people used to smoke in grocery stores, banks and department stores. european trains were smoked-filled. british pubs.

I remember that, too. It's still common in many cities. I am a former smoker myself. I smoked from about the age of 15 until I was 31. More than a pack a day.

I used to ridicule those who complained about it, thinking they were being a bunch of whining ninny sissy mary's.

I never realized how bad it smelled in one's house or car, on one's clothing, or worst of all, their breath.

Smoking greatly contributed to the death of my father, and to many other people I've known. It's a nasty, deadly, sinister thing. I could go on and on and on about it.

Having said all of that, I still don't want to take away your right to smoke, but I'd just like it to be outside. I don't want to take away the casino's right to allow smoking, so I'll avoid the casino.

a few hours once a month in a casino isn't the end of the world. and it doesn't make someone a wacko who feels its worth the risk. we are becoming such a namby pamby people. last time I went to Harrahs, they were smoking in there too. oh, the humanity!!

No it's not the end of the world, but it stinks, gives me a headache, and leaves me smelling like I'm the one who was smoking. Wanting to be able to breath clean air isn't namby pamby, it's healthy wealthy.

I went to Tahoe for a friend's birthday a few years back. My wife and I snuck off and went to Harrah's. The smoke was so unbearable we had to get out of there.

I don't know if gambling attracts smokers, or if smokers get nervous and smoke more when at a casino, but whatever the case, I'd rather not have to deal with it.

It reminds me of Steve Martin when he used to do stand up. I don't remember all the words but it went something like:

He's in a bar when the guy next to him asks, "Mind if I smoke?", and he replies, "No. Mind if I fart? It's a habit I picked. I've tried to quit, but when I drink I get the urge to light one up, you know?"

Being a Steve Martin Fan, i just want to set the record straight and this is from memory, so I may still have a few errors, but I'm pretty sure I've got it more correct.

I think his first comment is about it being in a bowling alley, but that's not the best part.

dude: "Mind if I smoke"
Steve: " No, mind if I fart,
I quit once for a year, but put on alot of weight,

After sex, I really get the urge to light one up!"

Now that is funny lmao.gif lmaosmiley.gif
I would rather be Backpacking

like I said, there is smoke in casinos. no surprise there.

I don't smoke, but its not going to stop me from going. And since I know there is going to be smoke there before I go, I'm not going to complain about it later.

still looking forward to checking out the buffet! smile.gif

Not even close... We have our spot and we go there and always make money... Let's just say we have a system and it works perfectly. Last time we brought home over 1k.

I can't figure out what everyone is complaining about.

It's not everyone, it's just the usual whiny babies who hate everything because it exists.

Which is your perogative.

Me, a person with severe asthma, who quite possibly developed asthma from exposure to second smoke when I was baby & small child, try my darndest to avoid exposure to second hand smoke.

That's my perogative. smile.gif

It's not the smoke. I get it. I know that people with 1 bad habit often have others. I've had my share.

It's the sheer volume of smoke that night. It was amazing how many people were smoking. I actually saw a guy light a new cigarette with the one that was almost smoked up.

A little smoke in the air is unpleasant, but I can take it. So much smoke that it gives one a headache and makes them stink like a smoker is too much.

I'm in full agreement.

Odd how some people think we're 'over-reacting'... hypocritesmiley.png
