FYI - we were driving up the hill towards Placerville, and saw a billboard that said the new Red Hawk Casio was opening Dec. 17th, at 7 pm. So, if you like that kind of thing, I bet opening night at a new casino might be fun.

We're not big into gambling, but it'll be fun to check out the restaurant(s), especially the steakhouse!
I haven't really looked into/heard anything about the place. I'm curious how the community feels about having it there... positives vs. negatives? If it was covered in threads gone by, sorry!

I am looking forward to it, specifically checking out their restaurants. I'm sure El Dorado County is very happy about the financial support. The only downside I see for us in Folsom is the increased traffic on Hwy. 50, I'm sure we're going to see a lot more bay area gambling busses, as well as passenger vehicles.

I am wondering if they have anything special on the open date.

Another Indian Casino! In this economy is this what California needs?

Yes. The casino is a large employment source, contributes to the community, pays taxes and its customers will hopefully patronize other El Dorado County and Folsom businesses traveling there or back.

NO! Nor is it even what California wants.
How is it not what California wants? With these casinos popping up everywhere there's obviously a demand.

I thought they were exempt from taxes because of the tribal land thing?

The make deals for fire service, etc. They also employ thousands of nearby residents who pay income tax. Not everyone that works there is in the tribe.

If we want to go to the casino's we go to South Lake Tahoe, NV. We go once or twice a year.
I have never and will never go to an Indian casino here in California. I feel that it is discrimination in the worst way. If they can have a casino then I should be able to have a casino. Why should it be just for the Indians?

Although, I've never been to an Indian casino, either. I just assume they'd hold some sort of grudge and screw me on the craps table

In general, Indian Casinos are quite nice.
We had a blast a few years ago at Foxwoods at the Blackjack Table in the High Limit Room.
We didn't see any Indians there.
