I'm new to Folsom (3 weeks) and am currently living in Empire Ranch. I am looking for a pre-school/Pre-K program for my 4 1/2 yr old. It is hard to find a program that has openings at this time of year so I thought I would see if anyone here could make some recommendations. I've checked into Folsom Montessori, Fireflies (full) and Bright Beginnings. Does anyone have any other recommendations or opinions on pre-schools in Folsom?
Thanks in advance for any info.

Brighton Schools at Levy is 353-0777 and Natoma Station is 985-2222. They are an excellent school. Tell them Jolene sent you. (=
We could not be doing this without you.
Much love and gratitude.

I can't speak high enough about Brighton. I have had my son there for 2.5 years. Other parents that are in my son's class have kids that have gone on to some of the tougher elementary schools and their kids have done so with flying kids, so Brighton is solid academicaly. What is more, the people there really care about what they do and the LOVE kids.
What is even better, is with the new expansion on Riley, they FINALLY have room (there used to be a very long wait list).
My thoughts on the subject.

I love the Montessori philosophy for preschoolers. It really encourages an independent love of hands-on learning. Each student goes at their own pace, as opposed to only being taught as part of a group. (Of course, some activities like recess, arts/crafts, and circle time are done on a group-wide basis, so it is a nice mix).

Any recommendations on public schools for preschool in Folsom ? I have a 3 year old son, who will be going to a school for the first time and I would appreciate recommendations on a good public preschool, with good teacher and good track record.

????
I know the owner of kinder care. Very nice lady. However she has been burned by a few parents that don't pay. It has made her a bit jaded around the 1st of the month. I think she does a great job hiring people who care about kids--but it is not a pre-school. That was my experience 10 years ago anyway. More like a day care. Maybe it's changed since then.
My kids also went to action day. Another great day care--but not a preschool. I too have heard great things about joy of children.
I have also heard that the preschool at the community center is actually a zoo for ADD kids whose moms need a break a few days a week (upset mom said that--so take it with a grain of salt).
I don't like montessori style but it is structured well for some kids.
I highly recommend the pre-school program through St. Johns if you can get your kid in it.
