I talked to some of the employees at Malabar's tonight. They said they open on Thursday or Friday. Looks really nice inside.

Just wanted to mention that Malabar is open! Husband and I ate there on Saturday and really enjoyed it. It was about 1/4th full (place is huge) and has a great bar area.

The food was pretty good and service was excellent. Then again, with all the empty tables the service should have been excellent.

Will definitely go again. Give it a try!

WHAT? A chain restaurant in Folsom without a 2 hour wait? Oh, I get it. They haven't opened enough locations for the chain crowd to trust them.

Anyway, I know one of the bartenders, Liz, who used to be at Taco Loco and at Mexquite. She is a good bartender with a great attitude, so when she's on duty, customers will be happy.

Sign on the door says they're adding lunch this week. It had only been open Sat/Sun for dinner.

I could be wrong but other than the Natomas location, I don't think there are any others.

Does that qualify it for a chain?

I think a chain needs at least 3 'links'.. otherwise it's just a stick

Probably not. That's why I said, "They haven't opened enough locations for the chain crowd to trust them."

It is my understanding that they do hope to open more.

So far this place sounds simple, but effective. Anyone else tried it?

No, there's nothing about it that really makes me want to. The menu is uninspired, though the food very well may be tasty. My husband, however, is looking forward to having after-work drinks at the bar. Perhaps their might be a little cocktail scene? I'd relish that.

I think the menu looks interesting, innovative and covers a lot of ground. I saw a lot of things I would like to try throughout the menu. I hope they make it. smile.gif

Wow! $9.75 for a glass of 7 Deadly Zins, which retails for $12.49 a bottle at Costco?

Marked up much?

There better be a helluva happy hour to pay those prices for cocktails and wine.
