My bf and I went to Malabars for dinner the other night and we were both disappointed.

I've gone a few times with my mom and family and the service/food was great. However, when we were there it was just a bad experience.

I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt considering all other times I've been the service/food was good.

So what was disappointing? Half the times you were there is was good but not the other half of the times? Are you leading into how they singled you and your bf out and gave you bad service?

We waited 10 minutes before being taken to a seat (the restaurant was pretty much empty and there was no one else waiting). It took the waitress another 10 minutes to bring us two glasses of water. I ordered a chicken sandwich, the chicken was dry. He ordered a pizza, it was bland.

We weren't the only ones that had this though. As we were leaving another family was complaining to the manager about the lack of service/quality.

I've never been to that place and I will say it's soley based on the reviews here. Overpriced food and liquor with poor service seems to be the norm for this place. Also sounds like they were understaffed for a Monday night, maybe everybody was out watching the MNF game. What also bugs me about the place is that you have to park in the back and walk around to the front to get in because it faces Prairie City. Looks odd to me.

The enterance is in the "back". I thought the same thing, but the doors aren't facing Prairie City.

give it a try and find out for yourself Darth, its not that bad. I've been a few times and its been nice. But keep in mind - its not cheap, but the food is pretty good and the atmosphere nice.

btw, there is no door on the Prairie City street side - the door is facing the parking lot.

Like I said, it's nice but for us its not a place we'll go often.

OK, so the concensus is that it's over-rated, but at least it's over-priced.

Does that sum it up ??

No, have not been there, just concluded that by reading the reviews. It looks like we won't be going anytime soon. football2.gif

We like BJ's. And their pizza is under-rated. And the potato skins. And the cold 'Blonde' beer. No, it's not The Firehouse, but we know that. It's a good, casual place to grab some comfort food and watch a game. So sue me.... cheers.gif

And while you were there did you think to take this up with the manager?
Let him know your wait issues, your food issues, your distaste in your experience?
Food on table, manager there to see / experience first hand what the issue is?

What amazes me is that people are more interested in eating somewhere and getting poor service, just so they can (censored) about it later; Don't do anything to address the issue on the spot. But gladly complain later after the fact.

The entire problem/solution theory rides on your ability in having a solution put in place.

Every time I've been there, stellar food and drink.
And if it's not, I get the manager to fix it.
That's what I'm paying for.

What work I have done I have done because it has been play. If it had been work I shouldn't have done it. Who was it who said, "Blessed is the man who has found his work"? Whoever it was he had the right idea in his mind. Mark you, he says his work--not somebody else's work. The work that is really a man's own work is play and not work at all. Cursed is the man who has found some other man's work and cannot lose it. When we talk about the great workers of the world we really mean the great players of the world. The fellows who groan and sweat under the weary load of toil that they bear never can hope to do anything great. How can they when their souls are in a ferment of revolt against the employment of their hands and brains? The product of slavery, intellectual or physical, can never be great.
Mark Twain
