When he saw me he jumped up, apologized and said he was playing a game, and took off running.
He looked to be high school age, but I couldn't see any other people running around the area. Anyone else experience this?

Yep but I shot the kid and buried him under my shed before he could get away. His friends never came around looking for him either, very odd.....

A roving pack of punks looking for some sweet trouble.

If I didn't get the kid, I would still call the cops. Just to go on record with the report, in case something shows up missing or damaged later on.

Plus 1/2 the fun was making the "old people" mad, and chase you with their hands in the air screaming ... "Hey kid! Get off my LAWN"!!!
I miss that game! Old people (grown ups in general) get so mad!

How do you know the kid wasn't casing the place?
Just having fun, maybe, until they trip and then their parents sue me for their childs brain damage because I have brickwork next to my fence and he landed on his head.
It's my property, not theirs. The fence is there for a purpose, to keep people out.
Bottom line, that kid was trespassing, whether he was having fun or had ill intent.
I had to tell a neighbor parent about their son riding his bike across my lawn and then flying through the air and damaging my next door neighbor's bush. The drop off going into my nextdoor neighbors yard allowed him to get some airtime and sometimes he was landing on a small bush. Multiple runs across my yard was putting a worn path in my yard causing damage.
Yeah, the kid was just having fun, but ruining my yard and my neighbor's bush in the process.
How about the kids I saw last weekend with skateboards on top of the local elementary school. That's real smart. I guess in your eyes, I should have let them have fun until one of them fell off and cracked his skull open. I told them if they didn't get off I would call the cops. They choose to leave. As they were getting off the roof, another adult (possibly a teacher working on the weekend) came out and chased them off as well.

I was playing once at age 12

picked the old guy on the block and he came out the front door with a shot gun in his hand while I was never to sure if it was real I never went near that "old mans" house again

Never know when you are going to pick out the crazy "old person"
I don't think it's a wise idea these days to be in someone's yard times are way different than they used to be...

What, we're just supposed to let kids have fun?
I believe those teenagers were having fun racing down Iron Point when they killed that teacher a year or so ago.
Turfing my yard with their bike, what's next, turfing your yard with their pick-up truck?
How are you going to feel then? Maybe you'll decide kids need to learn to limit the way they have joy and fun afterall.

Yep, it's a game called burglary he was trying to play. You just came home at the right time. High school kids don't play hide & seek, as far as I know. These punk hooligans should be at Target harrassing customers instead of breaking into our homes. Having a dog/neighborhood watch/alarm/big gun is almost a necessity these days.
