I have been told by numerous teenagers, of all different cliques and groups, that some very disturbing things are happening at school dances, in particular Folsom High's Homecoming Dance this past weekend. Is it really true?

It is being reported that MANY students are having sex in the middle of the dance floor!!! The girls are wearing short dresses (the kind with the thick elastic bottom at mid thigh) and nothing underneath. Some of the boys are lying on the floor on their backs, some are standing right there in the middle of the crowd! Others are having sex in the bathrooms, some with multiple partners!!

I can't seem to pick my jaw up off the floor! I also hear that this dance had more alcohol and drugs than others. Are any of you seeing this type of behavior? Is any of this accurate?? Please enlighten an old fogey.....

Just curious - where did you hear this? It kind of sounds like those crazy exaggerations from he said, she said.

From kids at the dance. Different kids, innocent ones that freaked out, 'tough' kids that it didn't faze, some average kids. Different days, they didn't even know I had a conversation with anyone else about it....I am freaking out. If I had been told by one kid, or one group of kids all feeding off of each other, I would write it up as the he said/she said. But when I started getting the same story, with some extremely graphic details, I am inclined to believe it. Just thought I'd see if anyone on here has seen it also..... sad.gif

Sounds highly exaggerated to me as well, although I haven't been to a high school dance in a looong time! I wouldn't be surprised that there is highly sexual dancing going on (there has been for quite a while), but actual sex on the dancefloor? I'm skeptical of that.

I'll have to ask my niece, who was there. I doubt she'll tell me anything. I'm better off asking her wild friend. She always spills the beans. laugh.gif

My daughter told me she and her friends saw it happen too.

this dance had more alcohol and drugs than others.

Time to have a police presence at the "dances".

Or no "dances" at all.
I have opinions, you have opinions. We'll just call it even...is that OK ??

I wouldn't be surprised. Freakin' is popular at dances, and often times students crowd around the center in a large circle so faculty/chaperons cannot see what is going on.

Yes, it is shocking, and sad, and shocking. Have you spoken with anyone at the school?

WTH?!!? I thought there were chaperones! I remember when I was in HS, we got in trouble if we even came close to "freaking!"

I don't know...people actually having sex on the dance floor? To quote Jerry Seinfeld "People don't just bump into each other and have sex. This isn't Cinemax."

I just asked her about it and it was as described in the original post and when I asked her how come the chaperons didn't do anything she said because there was a ton of people dancing and it happened in the middle of the crowd

Yep, they do it deliberately so what's going on in the center won't be seen.

These poor kids are no longer taught to have any sort of respect for themselves. I feel so bad for these girls who are growing up to do this crap to prove that they are worthy of love. The guys are just "studs", right? Boys will be boys and all that crap??

My guess is that these kids will come to regret their actions the older they get. So stupid and so sad.
THANK YOU FOR SUPPORTING MY GIRL.

Interesting. I'll tell you what, if this is true then the kids who are engaging in it are certainly not self conscious. I remain skeptical because I remember all too well from my own HS days that very often what kids say they've "seen" are actually things they've heard about from other kids. I'm not saying it isn't possible that this really happened, but I'm having a hard time with it.

"Freaking" was pretty prevalent back when I was in HS in the late 88-92 timeframe but I'm pretty sure nobody was actually having sex on the dancefloor. I'm pretty sure that plenty of kids left the dances and had sex before going home, though. I dunno...I guess it is possible that times have changed to the point where kids would be willing to do it in public with a hundred other people watching.

No, this isn't a "boys will be boys" situation. The morals and self-respect of any boys partaking in this activity are exactly as questionable as those of the girls.
