I saw that the post was closed, but I feel the need to post. I reported an underweight coyote walking down Russi by the baseball park. When I drove close to the coyote he took off in the brush by the park, close to SJG Elementary. I called the non-emergency police and they gave me a number to some coyote wrangler who catches and then euthanizes them. He said if it wasn't bothering anyone that he didn't want to come out.
WHERE was today's sighting?
This coyote is in Praire Oaks and the animal control told me if he's not bothering you, to just leave him be. I was surprised that they don't catch and release somewhere else, but he said they have to put them down b.c. if they relocate them they won't know where to go and they won't have their pack....Sad how developers, like Tree House don't have to relocate the animals when they destroy their habitat. I worry about my cat too.
Americans, don't just come in one color or race.

Yes, it's very sad that people are allowed to build without regard for the wild life they are impacting. That wild life gets into our garbage, back yards and anywhere they think they can find a small item of food.
You can't blame them really...they have to fight to survive and should be allowed to in their own habitat.

I'd keep my cat inside at night, if I were you. Make her wait for her feeding until dinner time and then make her stay inside for the rest of the night. That might keep her safe for at least half the time she's outside.
The trouble with outdoor/indoor cats is they are hard to change into 100% inside cats.

Did you know the average life span for an outdoor cat is just 3 years, compared to the life span of an indoor cat who lives as long as 16 years?

Good Luck....

But who knows the real truth about the well? Who wishes to unleash the hideous forces it contains? What terrible consequences will follow the search for a legendary treasure hidden at the bottom?
No one wants to believe the Doctor's warnings about the deadly horror lying in wait - but soon they'll wish they had..."

I saw a coyote looking out of the bushes right near where the old railroad tracks cross E. Bidwell. Isn't that somewhere between Oak Ave Pkwy and Blue Ravine? This was probably a couple weeks ago too.

I don't remember specifically what time of day it was, other than it was broad daylight. Probably somewhere between 8:30am and 3pm - just thinking about where I've been and when the last couple weeks.

It looked kind of worn out - ears angled down. Looking across the road, but didn't look like it was going to make a run for it. Just looking.

I didn't even think about calling anyone. But yea, the coyote didn't look right. Not overtly sick, but worn out and sad looking. Which might mean its sick, I have no idea..

Maybe it did get pushed out of its pack..?

Around a year ago I was sitting in my chair in the front of my house at around 2 AM watching the meteor showers. I saw a coyote walking right down Duncan Way right in front of me. I didn't even move and it walked right on by.
A VETERAN Whether active duty, retired, national guard or reserve - is someone who, at one point in their life, wrote a blank check made payable to "The United States of America" for an amount "up to and including their life". That is HONOR, and there are way too many people in this country who no longer understand it. -Author unknown-

Since we have lived in Prairie Oaks (12 years as of 5/10) there have always been coyotes around here. We have a lot of greenbelts that allow them to move through the different areas without usually being observed. I believe they have a right to live here just as we do. It seems to me they have adapted fine. Most coyotes I see always look sad and a little rough around the edges.

I do miss when there weren't so many houses, the coyotes howling at night. Now you very rarely hear them.

We also used to have a lot of quail, and of course I don't see them as much either.

Before kids we used to ride our bikes all over Folsom. We would occasionally see coyotes in the green-belt going through Lexington Hills. And dear. And rattlesnakes. Unless they pose a threat to life or property, it is probably best to just leave them alone.

I feel sick about coyotes who have a long slow death of starvation....It's cruel and unusual punishment. I really think it's sad that cities don't make the developers trap the animals as a pack and relocate them....It's not that hard to do...It just takes money and God forbid standards....Cities just want money...It seems like they don't care how they get it...Look how poorly the In/Out shopping center was desiged for congestion..IT looks like they actually tried to make the new mall the ugliest they could...

Our city leaders are turning our town into another Roseville because there's developer dollars to be had.

I saw a coyote run across Iron Point almost at Folsom Blvd on my way to work about 2 weeks ago. Thank goodness it looked healthy...but hopefully it got back to the other side of Folsom Blvd safely!

We used to see a coyote over by Livermore Park but haven't seen any for quite a few years now.

We live in Lexington Hills and have the wetlands right behind our house--we hear and see the coyotes all the time!! Last summer, they were in our backyard--about 4 of them--and they had a wild turkey in our pool and had the pool surrounded. It was kinda creepy, they finally got tired of the turkey trying to stay afloat and left--the turkey got out of our pool and hobbled away...it only had one leg!!! Needless to say...I shocked my pool the next morning..eww.

It creeped me out that they got over our fence and into our yard, but we have had lots of critters in our backyard at night.

I don't think the coyotes behind my house are starving...there are lots of critters to eat back there and neighborhood "outdoor cats" often don't make it home!!

Wild animals do not make good pets, but here's the exception to the rule.

I used to walk my dog around 6:00 a.m. every morning before work but that all stopped when I saw 2 coyotes in the brush next to Broadstone Racquet Club. They were right next to the sidewalk I usually take every morning. At first, I thought they were lost pets - because they were big, but my husband said he's seen coyotes in the front of the house a couple times before. I've also seen one walking on the side walk on Kennerly - near Kemp Park. Needless to say, I've decided to change my walking habits and to play it safe by walking after work instead - when the parks are busy and people are out.

I would caution kids (teenagers) walking around at night and parents to keep an eye out on their little ones at the park to make sure they are safe. This reminds me of that Seinfeld episode where Elaine states, "The Dingo ate your baby?!?" Yikes!
