I saw it last night (midnight) with my son and his friends. In my opinion, it is the best of the Harry Potter movies so far. It stayed relatively close to the book (which I think is a good thing) and I really liked the actor that played Professor Slughorn. Go and see it. thumbsupsmileyanim.gif

I saw it. It was okay.

Do you think if they had a PG-13 rating it would've been better? From the friends that I've asked, it's a 50/50 on whether they think a more mature rating would've done the movie more justice.

I heard it stunk, worst of the bunch. Too much gooey love story non-sense.

Well the Vatican approved of this movie when before they were anti-Harry Potter...what else could you expect?

I've learned not to write detailed critiques of this sort of thing. So it was okay.

No. Or at least it wouldn't have been a Harry Potter movie. You can save that for the gritty, realistic Harry Potter reboot they do in 2035.

Actually, the last two Potter movies have been PG-13, and this book is as least as dark as those if not more. I was surprised that this one wasn't PG-13

Saw it this afternoon and will have to agree with it being ok. Not great but not bad. A nice way to escape the heat. Hope the next one goes back to PG-13.

Same. Don't know if the rating wouldve made a difference though.

same here, I like hearing it stayed close to the book, cuz that's what I want to see, a video version of what I've read. For me, Order of the Phoenix was so dissappointing for the amount of "poetic" license that was granted to the Director. I really felt his story re-writes were wrong and the amount of material he just ignored didn't do justice to the book. I've been impressed with the trailers I've seen so far, so I expect I'll like it.
I would rather be Backpacking

I just started the first book, I also like to see a movie stay close to the books though. I usually like movies other people hate so I'm sure I'll like it anyhow.

Where did you hear that it stayed close to the book? There's one entire scene that I went: "Wahhh? Huh? Wow! I understand them leaving things out, but creating completely new things that never happened.... wow."
