There is a lot of talk on the airwaves about every American getting the H1N1 flu vaccination as they become available starting late October thru December. The Today show showed someone getting the nasal spray this AM and seems pretty innocuous (pun intended). I was curious as to views from fellow Folsomites as to how you will be handling the call for getting vaccinated(?).

Will you get it for yourself, or not? Why? How about your kids?

Thanks all!

I won't be getting it. I'm pretty sure I've already had it.

If I'm wrong and I do get sick, I'll just be sure to stay home.

I will be getting both my regular flu shot and my swine flut shot. I've had good success with the regular shot, and the new one is no different. If the swine flu had started at the normal time, it would have been part of the regular shot anyways

I plan to get BOTH flu shots for my kids amd myself fopr a couple of reasons. First, I am not one these crazy conspiray theorists thatbelieve everyhting that goes against Science and the experts. There is no solid and verifiable evidence that the H1N1 has real bad side effects. The people that buy into "fear mongering" by NOT letting their kids get vaccinated should be imprioned for child abuse because by electing NOT to vaccinate has much more dire consequences. Secondly, our pediatrician and many many pediatricians around the US tha HAVE their own children will get their own kids vaccinated as well.

How many REPUTABLE practioners in the US have refused the flu shot and the H1N1 shot for themselves and their familes because of their concerns for "safety"???? Not many.

I am so sick and tired of these national Enquirer world is gonna end in 2012 crap.

Agreed, I really get pissed at how much time the History channel is spending on this Nostradamus effect, and the coinciding 2012 Mayan calendar and other crap.

They treat it as if it were science when it's just a bunch of hooey.

I may get the vaccine if there is enough left after those who most need it get it first. I will get the "old" flu shot and the "pig flu" shot will be wait and see.

The Mayan Calendar is hooey? What's hooey is buying the hype and fear of all this flu non-sense. Of all the sheeples I know who get flu shots most of them end up getting sick anyways. Geez, guess they picked the wrong strain for the vaccination huh sad.gif It's a crap shoot.

The H1N1 is no worse than "the flu" but if you wish to be a follower because "even Dr's are giving their kids shots" then more power to you.

It's sad to see that the state run media is winning.

Well, then sign me up for "child abuse"... I'm not getting either flu shot (regular flu nor H1N1) - for me nor my 9-year-old. We're both otherwise reasonably healthy and do our best with hygiene. We wash our hands and keep them out of our noses, eyes and mouth.

It's just the flu! My employer is providing flu shots free of charge... Ask me in two months if I regret the decision but for now I don't see injecting my body, nor my child's, with something I see as unnecessary.

I don't care if adults elect NOT to vaccinate themselves, but when their brain cells cease to operate as they make a decision for their kids, its beyond ignorance. It is a CRIME as they should be prosecuted and thrown in jail just like the lady that killed her four kids. This H1N1 strain (per the CDC) is very dangerous compared to the regular flu.

"Health officials said Friday that 76 U.S. children have died of swine flu, including 19 new reports in the past week -- more evidence the new virus is unusually dangerous for the young" AP

You don't need to insult people, Palango. Parents do their best to research the pros and cos of immunizations. It is not unanimous even within the medical community whether these shots have been rushed to market or not -- so we don't know what impact the immunizations themselves will have on our health. You may agree with what you hear from some medical professionals, but some of us are listening to both sides. My children are young adults now and can decide for themselves whether they want the shot, but if they were younger I don't know what I'd do. As I've pointed out before, my doctor isn't getting the shot and I'm not either. You are entitled to your own conclusions and your own actions, but to insult people and call them child abusers is way out of line.

Out of those 76 children how many had underlying health conditions that even the regular flu would have been deadly to them?

How many children have died of the regular flu in the same time period?

How many children have died of meningitis in the same time period?

I'm just not buying into the panic and think it is really rude to put people in the same class as murderers for using their brain cells to make decisions about what is best for their own children and not just blindly following media hype.

I agree the mayan calendar end of the world prediction is hooey.

As for the flu shot, I get it every year and I don't get the flu. One year I waited too long and didn't get the shot. That year I got a stomach flu
