Has the Willow Springs area had any type of July 4th neighborhood gathering in the past? We moved into the neighborhood just after July4th last year and heard about a neighborhood party on the Forecast Homes side of the lake.

Anyone interested in trying to put together a July 4th Party on the Winncrest side of the lake? Our lives are so busy with our kids that we haven't had the chance to meet all our neighbors and get to know each other a little better....

Hey Mark,
I'm the organizer of the anuual 4th of July BBQ held at the gazebo across the lake from you. Last year we had over 80 people at the BBQ including a few neighbors from your side of the "pond". We had a jumper for the kids and some kiddie pools to stay cool as well. If you would like to do something different for the Winncrest development, I'm cool with that. Brock Circle has their own event every year. However, we would love to have all of you join us! It's a great way to get to know neighbors that you may not run into everyday. As a matter of fact, we had a family from your side of the pond that hadn't even moved in yet meet their new next door neighbors (quite by accident) last year. Anyway, if you do decide to join us I could use a co-organizer from your side of the pond if you know anyone that is interested! BTW, welcome to the neighborhood!

What about a July 4th BBQ Party at Livermore Park for **All ** Willow Springs Residents?

Getting everyone together in the neighborhood instead of block for block might be a great way for WS Residents to get to know each other.

Livermore has several nice things for a community BBQ/Picnic:

**Numerous picnic areas
**baseball field
**volleyball field
**Football (flag football for the older kids, young adults?)
**Playground for the toddlers
** Cool water /river rock theme that the kids can play in.

I think they turn that thing on in the summer. If we could get the city or Folsom Parks and Rec to turn it on specifically for that day, that would be a great way to cool off the little kids & adults.

It could be a BYOD (drinks), potluck, etc. There is a huge parking lot - safe for fire crackers poppers and a good show for all......

We entertained that idea last year but decided we were still small enough for the gazebo area. I'd love to expand the BBQ but it really all depends on the response. Maybe if we had co-organizers from each little neighborhood, we could pull it off. We usually do a bring your own meat and a dish to share and a donation for the jumper. Not sure how we would do it with a larger crowd though. Let me know your ideas. We'll see what we can do!

It's that time of year again to start planning our 4th annual 4th of July BBQ. I'm not sure how I am going to go about it this time since my website in no longer active (no more online sign-ups). I guess I'll have to do it the old fashioned way with flyers and phone calls. I will probablly post flyers on the mailboxes in the neighborhood surrounding Willow Springs Lake (Forecast and Winncrest homes) unless some of you out there on the other side of McAdoo would like to be included. Hi Nicole,

Thanks for letting us know about our upcoming annual July 4th picnic. I guess it's that time of year again. Your idea of posting flyers around the mail boxes sound like a good option to get the word out. U can count on us for attending and bringing our BBQ. In fact, I already have purchased paper plates and eating utensils. Please let me know what else U need. Thanks.

Thanks guys! It's nice to know that I can always count on my neighbors to help me out. I'll print up flyers this week and post them by next. I'll let you know if I need any help at this point.

Willow Springs 4th annual 4th of July BBQ
When? July 4th
Where? The gazebo area near Willow Springs Lake (on Mallard Circle and Marsh Hawk Dr.)
Time? Noon-???
What do I need know? Bring your own meat, a dish to share and sunscreen!
Anything else? I will be collecting donations for drinks (non-alcoholic and a bounce house for the kids). Suggested donation are $5 per household with out kids attending and $10+ per household with kids old enough to enjoy the jumper.

To save on my costs, I will only be putting up flyers in the neighborhoods surrounding the lake. If you or someone you know who lives in Willow Springs would like to attend, please pass on this information.

I am so upset! For the past 3 years I have posted flyers on the mailboxes in our neighborhood to get out the word about our BBQ (I always take them down when the event is over). Well I posted them today and the mailperson took them all down!!!!!!!! I don't know any other reasonable way to get the word out to so many people short of emptying my wallet and printing out hundreds of flyers and walking door to door! Not sure what I'm going to do. If you have any ideas let me know.

Hi Nicole...

You might want to try posting them on the light posts during the weekend. Probably could not leave them up for very long but that might help.

I don't know what the problem is with the mail person but you might want to try talking to her and explain that the flyers will be removed. Or you could ask the Folsom Telegraph to do a community notice flyer.

Thank you for your suggestions. Here is an update... I received permission from my neighbors to post the flyers on their fences which are right next to the mailboxes. I just drove by to get my mail and they were torn down!!!! I believe our mail person has a personal vendetta against neighborhood BBQ's! So I put them right back up again with a note explaining that I had the property owners permission to post the flyers. I guess I'll just have to wait and see what happens next. Anyway, this took care of my street but not the others. My kids and I went door to door through part of the neighborhood today putting flyers on peoples doors. So now I am headed to Kinko's to print up a bunch more flyers. Fortunately for me, I have some awesome neighbors who have volunteered to help me distribute them. I'm sure everything will work out just fine. We've had over 80 people at our last two BBQ's!
