This town's priorities are seriously out of whack! Severe cuts have been made to our schools yet very few attend board meetings to voice their concerns. But, play a big football game and people wait in line for tickets!

What aren't people allowed to have fun, watch a football game, and support the local team?

Last time I checked, board meetings aren't televised on national tv.

How much do you want to bet that ESPN will mention the Folsom Prison and Johnny Cash ? ?

Will be some nice exposure for the city....

Oh- and what is the point of going to a school board meeting- they do NOT take residents inputs and decide 99.9% of things on their own -

Another great  day in the adventure of exploration and sight.

Skip Bayless took care of that at about 7:30 on First and 10. Where's my cash?

Serious??

I think it's great. Whether they win or lose tonight, it's national recognition and a memory that they will have forever. Even in hard times, when money's tight and budgets are slashed, everyone still needs something to root for and look forward to. It can really bring a community together, especially a place like Folsom where so many of us are transplants. It's exciting and let's just let these kids have their moment; they worked hard to get here!!

The BIG GAME between the "Bulldogs vs. Pacers," being televised nationally by ESPN2, has brought much positive attention to the community, and lifted the spirits of many within Folsom, and the surrounding region. I've moved around the blogs today, and there are fans from every area in the conference coming to the community for the opportunity to see this game between these two great teams, live - in person. They have been filtering in since 5AM this morning, and have been eating and watering down in local businesses, buying game provisions etc. - all day long.... I think, even before the opening kick-off of the game, the event has been a WIN-WIN for everyone.... GO BULLDOGS...!!!

The AM news was reporting the cheerleaders were up at 4:30 AM practicing.
For HS Football, this is HUGE. I just hope the publicity doesn't make either team choke.
I'll be great if it's down to the wire and not a lop-sided blow out.
I would rather be Backpacking

I'm with you on that..!! Both teams are very talented in positions across the field, and both have returning players that have performed under the stress of a BIG GAME. I'm thinking that both teams - after the initial kick, and a couple minutes of hard contact - will settle in on their game, and the skill sets of both will take over. It's gonna be a good game either way it ends......!!!

It was on the news tonight. Mayor Starsky gave ESPN-2 the key to the city of Folsom.

Go Folsom...
A VETERAN Whether active duty, retired, national guard or reserve - is someone who, at one point in their life, wrote a blank check made payable to "The United States of America" for an amount "up to and including their life". That is HONOR, and there are way too many people in this country who no longer understand it. -Author unknown-

Is it just me or are there others who wonder why ticket prices weren't raised for this game? I'm not suggesting gouging folks but think of what could be done if they raised them from $6 to $10 (or more). That would generate an extra $20k (or more) that could be used for the library, additional counseling time, something, and not impact sales one bit yet create some additional benefit for the academic programs at the two schools.

What is "illegal participation?"

Edit: I googled it -- "Twelve or more players participate during the play, because the extra players either are not detected before the snap or enter during the play. Once the down begins, no further players may enter the field and participate, even if there are fewer than 11 players. Illegal participation is also called when an offensive player goes out of bounds (unless forced out by contact by the defense) and returns during the play."
