Ordered the "special chirashi". Nothing special about it. The sushi rice didn't have much vinegar in it, it was more like regular rice. The ika (squid) was mushy, as was my first piece of tako (octopus). The snapper tasted bad. The hamachi sashimi was ok, kinda borderline in quality. The salmon was mush as well. I'm very disappointed.
It was the first time in many years that I did not and could not finish my sashimi.

Good review Swmr!

For the quality yes. They have 50% off all house rolls which is nice, but when you look at the size they give you, it's ridiculous they would charge $11 for it. They gave edamame for free (nice), miso soup was warm (bad).
The hamachi Kama was great, but $1 for tea?
My mom and I had a roll each (at 50% off), hamachi Kama, I had chirashi (sashimi over sushi rice), and she had tonkatsu (fried pork) for $68.

I would really like it if a Japanese restaurant opened up that didn't sell raw fish. I know you can find them all over Japan.

I'll report on their COOKED cuisine after I give them a try.

There are some. Shoki (used to be in Folsom) only sells Ramen. There's another on Broadway that doesn't do sushi but my dad said it was gross (Hokkaido Noodle House).
Best cooked Japanese food that I've had is Akebono on Freeport. The owner makes me stuff that isn't on the menu, and if you give them enough notice they will do shabu shabu for you too

Thanks for the info, but I really dislike driving out of town to go out to eat. 5-10 minutes is OK, 30-40 minutes oneway isn't. I don't want to waste an hour of my day driving just to go to eat. There are some. Shoki (used to be in Folsom) only sells Ramen. With that said, last nights dinner was good. The Sukiyaki was delicious and had a slightly different selection of vegetables compared to Mikuni's. The Bento boxes were on par with other places, except they had an additional skewered shrimp that wasn't described/listed on the menu (a surprise treat?!).

It's not hard to print out new menus with different prices.

It's silly that almost all sushi restaurants are offering 50% off their menu... why don't they just offer better prices? Their menu was obviously too expensive to begin with. It's not a deal when it's 50% off all day/everyday.

It is a gimmick/craze among sushi joints all over the place. They are advertising half-off on items they never charged the 'regular' price for.
My daughter really likes sushi and was very excited about Blue Nami opening. She says she really didn't like it at all. Her word was "disappointing". Oh, well. There are plenty of other places to try I guess. Maybe it was the company.
I went to the preview party and it was great. Went back for lunch with my daughter and it wasn't.
Does anyone remember the days when most maki sushi (rolls) had the seaweed on the outside, and you usually got futomaki, tekkamaki or kappamaki? I remember when California roll and Oregon rolls started showing up.
Now it seems that each roll either has a deep fried shrimp, spicy tuna or fake crab with mayo in the center, then some kind of fish on the outside, with a couple of gloppy sauces on it. They all pretty much taste the same now.
I remember back 30 years ago when the sushi craze started, Robin Williams said the Japanese were getting revenge on us, joking, "we've got 'em eating raw fish and drinking hot wine!"

Considering the size of the roll I got, if they charged full price I would've been pissed. Their menu says "limited time only" but I doubt that.
