As I was leaving Save Mart yesterday I saw a new sign reading Wing Stop right next door to Habit Burgers. I have never been to a Wing Stop facility before so I am wondering if it's better or equal to Buffalo Wild Mini-Wings?? Just wanted to see what you think about them.. Have a great day !!

I've been to the one in Rancho Cordova, very small place, probably did more business as take out than dine in.

I think the wings are very good, similar and different sauces to BWW.

Best way to describe it is, Buffalo Wild Wings is Grill & Bar that serves chicken wings.

Wing stop is going to be more like a fast food joint that serves chicken wings.

I'm looking forward to Wing Stop opening as I expect to go there more often than I go to Wild Wings as hanging out in a Sports Bar is no longer my thing.
I'm a parent, and while yes, you can take kids to BWW, I prefer not to. Call me old fashioned, but kids shouldn't be in bars.

Logan, I want to praise you for saying what you said above about kids in bars.

I have seen it way too much in my life where parents parade into a bar or bar area with their young children. It makes me cringe. I was under the impression that bars had laws where they couldn’t serve minors, but I guess that went out the window a long time ago with our more "open-minded" society.

I have literally sat next to young children at Buffalo Wild Wings in the bar area….folks, it is a BAR !!! Even the “restaurant area” is basically a mild extension of the bar, and it’s just as LOUD there as it is in the bar !! Should young children really be there ??

And Chili’s is another story….parents march their young children into that bar too. Weird. Same with Red Robin. Same with BJ's.

Again, I commend you for saying what you said….you are risking being criticized here in this forum, but be strong. You are setting a good example...young children should not be in bars or bar areas....period.

As for Wing Stop, hope they do well. My preference is BWW, but I'm sure I will check out Wing Stop soon. I go for the "drumsticks", not the "wings". Yes, there is a difference !!!

I've only been to Bufalo Wild Wings a couple of times, but as I recall, the restaurant is larger than the bar area. My kids are grown now, but I never had a problem bringing them to a restaurant which also served alcohol.

I wouldn't take them to the Sutter Club or the Folsom Hotel, but something like BWW, Chili's or Red Robin, are fine, other than the crappy food.

By law a wild wings in not a bar. Kids can be in the bar area that serves food and is attached to a dinning area -chiles,BJs Kids can not sit at the bar tho.
My understanding is Toby Keiths Kicksout all minors at 10.

We eat in the restaurant at BWW with our kids. They have a blast playing on the trivia games at our table. The family competition makes it even more fun.

Just because it is the law, doesn't make it the right thing to do.

I would hardly call the "bar" at BWW, Chili's, or Red Robin a real bar. Many times, if we are waiting for a table, they will offer us to eat in the bar. No big deal. What is the difference between having a beer with food at the bar area, or having a beer at your table in the main dining area? Like Steve said, it's no Sutter Club or Powerhouse.

I don't think it's a big deal to get a table with your kids in the bar at Red Robin or any other family restaurant, It's never bothered me, But i usually don't go around looking for things to be bothered about. Look forward to trying Wing Stop the one in Natomas is good.

What some people consider petty, others do not. I grew up when bars were bars and restaurants were restaurants. Now the lines are blurred, and some places aren't as segregated as others bar area vs. dining area. If I feel like I'm in a bar that serves food, I don't take my kids there. If I feel like I'm in a restaraunt that has a bar over in that blocked off area, then I'm less perturbed by the existence of a place where the drinkers hang out. But I wish they would keep things more segregated, especially in places like Red Robin that truly cater to kids. Macaroni Grill feels like a restaurant with a bar in the front corner. BWW feels like a bar to me.

If it doesn't bother you, that's fine for you, but it does bother me and I don't think I'm being petty.

That's cool as long as you and your kids don't get all butt hurt and act petty when I'm drinking and cursing loudly like a sailor with my buddies at the bar having a good time. We don't always do that but since we're in the adult area of the restaurant we don't feel obligated to tip toe delicately in our conversations around your children.

Point taken, i removed the being "petty" part from my post. I agree with your point about not taking kids into a "bar that serves food". I just don't consider the bar area in Red Robin to be a real bar. If they didn't intend to have families in there they wouldn't of placed the video games there or have crayons and coloring books at the tables.

I Love It !!...I nominate your post as one of the best ever.

Interesting how those parents never quite think about the fact that the bar or bar area is an ADULT area, huh ?? But it's typical. Then the parents get mad that Susie or Johnny heard us say "bad words". They probably think crayons make it "OK"....

OK, if you want your young children here in the bar/adult/drinking area, then YOU can explain to your 6 year old what %&@# means if they hear us swear occasionally.

Good luck with that.

Can't ever recall having an issue with anyone in the hundred or so times iv'e taken my son to the bar area in Red Robin, I think when most people go out to get their drink on Red Robin and Applebees are probably not their top choices to go to. I know i don't act the same way at Red Robin as i have at Citty Slickers.

Like I said, as long as you're cool with your kids hearing occasional cussing and adult conversations it's all good.

You've really taken your kids over a hundred times to the bar at Red Robbin? Wow! Is it that hard to get a regular table there or do you just prefer having the quicker access to the beer and alcohol at the bar?
