Is it really true that the Friday night concert in the park will be held at Livermore? Wow and you the youth football was a parking/driving nightmare

Yes, Livermore Park is the new venue for the Picnic in the Park.

I spoke to one of the board members at the Chamber, and Livermore Park is the location. One can only assume it will be the football field. Well, at least we know that it ends early.

Did anyone notice they tore up the sod from one end zone to the other (hashmark to hashmark)?

I asked them about that. They aren't exactly on top of things when it comes to the website. Then again, I have also received different answers to the inquiry.

Here's another question in regards to the Friday Concert in the Park: I assume that guests can no longer bring alcohol to the concerts or is there a special permit issued for these concerts that will allow people to drink at the concert? I hope not, at least for neighbors' sakes.

Absolutely ridiculous!!! They can't even contol the parking and traffic during football. Why not Lembi, which is larger, has more parking and is better designed to fit an event of this magnitude?

It's definitely here at Livermore. Does anyone know whether it will be the football field? I'm trying to think where else they would have it.

Other possibilities (remote to me) would include:

The volleyball courts- making it kind of a beach event- not likely
The softball field- making it kind of a Day on the Green- still not likely

When I called the Chamber office, they weren't even sure.

I'm actually thinking about it pretty positively now. If it is at the football field, my home will be BBQ central and my friends will be able to enjoy the music AND a cocktail (assuming there is not a special alcohol permit for this- which then I would not be happy about). Beat that!

But the question remains, where are they going to put all the cars and whose going to be directing all that traffic across our residential streets??? Of course there will be a huge free-for-all just like the football events with no traffic patrol, no police presence, and they'll leave visitors to park their cars whereever they can on the streets in front of the homes so that there will be no parking for the residents and their guests throughout the subdivision. Oh they'll say they've made an effort (maybe open up a small patch of the open field with gravel for minimal parking but ont too muck because they don't want the liability), tell us the streets are public so guit your moaning, but the real question is would any of these employees or the council members live here in this subdivision and tolerate the scale and effects of these events? Even the police officers who have responded say it is out of control. Don't we have enough already with the football events, and soon to be the softball headquarters that they are trying to create at Livermore when they finish off the remaining field development? Seriously, who are these so called park planners and where did they get their planning degrees? The park was poorly planned from the start from its orientation, to its facilities, ingress and egress , etc. Now add to that ridiculously poor event planning - I see a lot of unhappy residents and an extremely dangerous situation. Oh and yes - make sure to call the city and or chamber to have all those food and beverage containers removed from your yard or gutter when these visitors leave you a little souvenir of their fun day at the park.

That's probably my biggest concern and why I am hoping that the new alcohol ban in parks and public places also pertains to this event (that there is not a special permit for this).

Being new in the neighborhood, I guess I will learn about the parking. I'm trying to look at this positively, doing the whole making lemonade out of lemons (however that old saying goes). Plus, I came from a neighbor situation that was pretty bad, so this (hopefully) will be child's play compared.

By the way, what part or parts of Willow Creek are typically most affected by the parking for football and other events? I spoke w/ most of my neighbors, and none of them have ever been bothered by the football. Now that we're moved in, I can't see any reason why they would mislead or lie about it.

I guess I will find out for myself.

tgianco -
Wait till game day and you will see the traffic safety and parking nightmare. Also each year they keep adding events to this park (now Concerts in the Park) so get ready and observe. It's not the events that are in question, it's the scale for the location - in the middle of a residential neighborhood????? Come on Folsom, you really can do better than that. Build a real community park or center, with accessibility to the general public, sufficient and offstreet parking and mitigated effects to the surrounding usages. Hmmmm, somewhere near Highway 50/commercial would be reasonable.....

I must second this statement, though from a slightly different perspective.

The driveway into Livermore Park is a dead-end. There is no egress at the other end.

Twice now, I have arrived at the park on a Saturday to find EVERY parking spot full (usually because of a couple of birthday parties going on). Of course, you don't figure out that there are no spaces until you get to the very end of the winding parking lot (probably 1/4 mile long). On both occasions, the lot was so full there was not even space to turn around in. Thus, I had to travel BACKWARDS the entire length of the Livermore parking lot (with other cars behind me also going backwards) in order to get out.

Given that at the time the park was buzzing with hundreds of little kids and their families, this was an exceedingly dangerous situation.
