Anyone know when La Dip Fondue will open? I tried to get their phone number on 411 and there was no listing. Who runs a business like that? Surely an Intel exec starting a restaurant knows to get a phone number listed even if it's before opening. And a website would seem likely considering the Intel background. Strange....
If you drive by and look from the front you can see that they are still in the framing stage, insulation and sheet rock haven't even been put up. They may be able to get a number for "voice mail" but they won't be able to get phone's installed until they are further along in construction and the city has approved each phase of their permit.

Intel now dabbles in Web Design, Hosting and Fondue? Wow, you guys do everything now....
How about a discount for those of us who DON'T work at Intel. That would be a nice change for the Folsom Community.

OK, I thought I heard the place was going to open in April. They must be way behind schedule.

Seriously, La Dip people, "The Meltropolitan" is an awesome name. Use it, I just want one free dinner a month
Owners are somehow connected to a south bay restaraunt called, "La Fondue". They wanted to be slightly different than the South Bay store, so they went with "la dip fondue".

Dukegirl,
If you are thinking about a restaurant job, a new restaurant is fantastic. Usually, people want to check it out for the first 3-6 months, so it's usually packed (if it's slightly anticipated).
Because of that, your section will almost always be full for the first three months, which means you will work hard, but, man oh man, will you rake in the dough if you are the least bit competent as a server.
Lastly, a place like this will be fairly expensive, so your tips, assuming most people tip at least 15% for even "fair" service and the average check for a couple at a fondue place will be upwards of $50, you could/ should be walking with $100+ cash a night (for someone in college or just out of college, fantastic money and a lot of fun).
Back in the mid-90s, I worked at a steakhouse/ brewery in San Mateo that was always packed the first 6 months, and you couldn't help walking with $100+ a night. I was lucky enough to wait on Eddie Debartolo, Carmen Policy and a group of friends one night (very cool folks and a lot of fun), and they left a nice $500 tip (it helps that they had a round of shots of some scotch that was $85 per shot- total bill was like $1500).
Good times you never forget.

Nope. We drove by yesterday and the windows were still covered with black.

I believe there construction has been delayed. My mother and I have been talking with them over the past 6 months. Very sweet people. They have had some serious time delays with mistakes of the buildout. I do believe it will be a little while yet before they open. the had problems with there custom granite tables, celings, ect..Our construction was also delayed for quite a while, we were supposed to open in november and it ended up being May! Hopefully they will open soon, melted cheese sounds soooo good, however if its as pricey as the melting pot in sac, ill have to pass, wow is that place expensive! I am waiting for Good Fellas, I love love love Italian! Night all!
