Does anyone know what is going on with all the businesses moving out of the Walmart shoping center? Is that center going to be torn down for houseing of some sort?
It looks like they are going to either paint or re-stucco some of the bldgs nearest to the street (blockbuster, the restaurants and more) I also get the impression that the rent there is very high and some places are locating to other areas

You could certainly check with City Hall to find out if that rumor is true. I tend to doubt it, as retail space is pretty valuable and should make more money for the property owners than affordable housing would. WalMart has simply outgrown that location, as is quite apparent when you walk into the store. Food Source never had the business it needed to survive, particularly once WinCo opened, so they shut down. I'm bummed about that because it was a VERY convenient place for us to pick up groceries, but oh well. I think we'll see some updating done to the existing buildings and new businesses will move in.
If you're moving in to the neighborhood behind that shopping center, welcome to the neighborhood. I think you'll be happy living here, as I can't imagine a more convenient and central location within Folsom. The neighborhood parks are great for the kids when the weather is warm and the people are friendly. You'll see me complain from time to time about idiot drivers speeding up and down Lembi, but you run into that kind of thing in any neighborhood.

I know radio shack will be moving into the former matress discounters soon.
Would that be the radio shack that is presently in the 24HR Fitness strip mall? I read in the newspaper that the radio shack in the Safeway parking lot at Willard will be closing.

Feel free to contact me directly or anyone in the Community Services Department at City Hall with any additional questions.

I am not sure what is moving where, but I was talking to the broker, and Radio shack already has finished up the lease for that suite.

I did hear that a Super Wal-Mart was in the works, but I did not hear about them shutting down the existing one. To be honest I think we could use two, as crowded as it gets in there. The other story I heard was that they were going to shut down the Sam's Club because of a lack of business and convert it into a Super Wal-Mart. This came from a Sam's Club employee.

I heard that the old Food Source building is going to be an shooting range and the parking lot is going to be a go-kart racetrack. Once WalMart moves, that's going to be a new location for Centerfolds strip club.
Thank goodness it is not going to become a church.

I think you have that confused with the vacant corner at Sibley at Glenn. After years of trying to find a buyer without success, the Orangevale Gun Club is going to reopen at their original location. There are concerns about the temporary conversion of the firing range into single-family housing, but they expect that the inhabited building nuisance will only be temporary after the first shots are fired.
And I think the old parking lot will become a combination go-kart racetrack and skatepark. Costs $8 for a round of go-karting, but if you take out a property-destroying deviant, you get your money back.
Finally, the big front wall on Wal-Mart between the front doors and the garden center is going to become the first city-santioned graffiti wall. Again, with a go-kart lane running in the same space.
