How would you weed out people that would post false things to get back at someone they don't like?

Sounds like a nightmare to me.

I do know that if you give the police department license number and infractions, they can send out a letter to the registered owners warning them not to do whatever it was they did. Now I realize a lot of folks would just toss the letters, but I would hope that some of them would actually pay attention. I would hope especially if the letter was sent to the parents of a young driver...

While I'm all for vigilante justice this would get shutdown quick. Just like those sites that posted names and pics of so called "Johns" getting caught with the ladies of the night....

Do you mean posting it on this site? If so, I agree with you. However, the letter thang with the PD is what an officer told me to do just last night.

I think most everyone here is pretty responsible and wouldn't post bogus info. Hey, if I don't like ya, I could always call 911 and report you as drunk driving, etc, so what's the diff?? I would say "make us shut it down'. It would certainly get attention, especially from the media. It would be "look how Folsom is trying to combat bad driving". It is so sad that most of you can't think outside the box and immediately look for reasons that it CAN'T be done. Very sad...no wonder crime in general is rising...nobody wants to think outside their little tiny box.

Why don't you set up a web site for this?

I'm not saying it's a bad idea. I just think it would be misused and may cause more harm than good.
The difference between making the 911 call is if you did it falsely and wasting an officer's time then you yourself would be commiting a crime.

If you do it, can I post photos of cars whose drivers are idiots at school? Like the one today that pulled a u-turn in the intersection while my kindergartener and I were crossing in who the proceeded to double park and drop his child off in the middle of the street to dodge traffic to get to school?

Sounds like a nightmare to me.
In this age of endless litigation, it sounds like a lawsuit waiting to happen.

I think that that is because you are commiting a crime by holding a law officer away from other potentially dangerous situations where law officers presence is actually needed.
BTW; there is absolutely no law from putting people's license plates on public websites; as license plates are public property for identification of vehicles (not people). Otherwise, you would not be breaking a law by refusing to display your license plate on your vehicle.
However, if you watch shows like cops; they will not show the direct image of a person without their permission (innocent until proven guilty--by court of law statement is always displayed of said during every show).
So--as long as images of persons are deleted and just plates are shown--I think it would be a good idea.
But then--I'm not a lawyer.
