I was there yesterday and had a Moretti and an Allagash...They were good. Talked to everyone, and I think the place has potential.
I have opinions, you have opinions. We'll just call it even...is that OK ??

Speaking of which:

Oh I'm on the drinking man's diet, it came from a book I was loaned
It's quite scientific and really terrific, and I'm - half - stoned!
For breakfast have vodka and corn flakes, but corn flakes have carbohydrates
So I don't eat those fattening corn flakes, I eat my vodka straight

So drink, drink, everyone drink, it's not as bad as we used to think
For every Manhattan your stomach will flatten so drink, drink, drink.

The Air Force invented this diet, a fact which they hotly deny,
Of course they deny it for this is the diet that got the Air Force high!
For lunch you have two dry martinis - what better lunch is there than that?
But make sure you don't eat the olives, cause olives make you fat

So, drink, drink, everyone drink, it's not as bad as we used to think
If pounds you would burn off, then turn on your Smirnoff and drink, drink, drink.

For dinner a nice scotch and soda, now that oughta help you to lose
No whipped cream, no butter, just lay in the gutter and booze, booze, booze
Suppose you should meet a policeman who says you've been quenching your thirst?
Just tell him it's physical fitness and health - comes - first!

Drink [hic] drink [hic] booze everywhere, pass that decanter of bourbon, there
I'm fatter than ever but here's what's so clever: it's I - DON'T - CARE!

Agreed. I've tried several beers which were new to me; Brother Thelonius, Alagash, and Racer 5 were memorable.

I dig that place.

I went there for my birthday last week with five others and we all loved the food and the drink. The food is so good here, I would recommend going even if you don't plan on having any beer or wine! As for the service, is was speedy and very good as well. Dave, one of the owners, even made a custom tasting of all 20 beers on tap for my birthday! It drew lots of looks from others in the restaurant. He said they are working on getting something like it on the menu so everyone can actually order it. Tasting 1.5 to 2 ounces of 20 different beers was a lot of fun. cheers.gif

I was very impressed by the unmatched selection of beers on tap and countless others by the bottle. Its gonna take me a long time, but I'm will try them all! I'm glad they also have a nice selection of wine, so my friends that aren't into beer can still enjoy a drink.

I give this place a 10 out of 10!

If you are going there on a Thursday, Friday, or Staurday night, call to reserve a booth. They have temperpedic cushions! It's also fun to sit at the bar and stare at all the beer.

See their website www.manderes.com for their phone #, menu, and other info.

Agreed!

Manderes is a nice little spot, cool, but casual and unpretentious.

I really want to try this place, but I'm not sure if it's babysitter-worthy. Should we use our one night out? Would it be a good before-dinner drink place? Or is it good to stay there for dinner?

Good enough for dinner.

It depends on the experience you are looking for.

It is really small, casual, open, and can get noisy. It's not romantic. It's great for socializing, though. I was in recently and knew people at 3 tables and the bar.

On the other hand, they do have a great selection of beer, and good food, too.

Agreed. If you only have the one night to try it, line it up as a before-dinner stop and just stay longer if you like it smile.gif

That's a good idea, Mylo.

Since we rarely use a sitter (too expensive!) we usually make it a bigger deal and we almost never stay in Folsom. I refuse to go somewhere I could have taken my kids. smile.gif

To us, Manderes makes a great casual date-night. It's not overly fancy or romantic, it's just a comfortable place for us to get out of the house, have a beer, some snacks, and conversation. I think that's well worth a short babysitting stint. Plus, since it's local, it only takes a few hours smile.gif
