pet lover, Congratulations on your new ride. It looks great, also looks like a good fit for you. My scooter (250cc) is supposed to go 70mph but for the life of me I don't know why I would ever want to go that fast. I bought it for commuting. I am finding that I seem to enjoy going slower on my commute. I am loving the warm weather and going slower seems much more relaxing and much more enjoyable. If I wanted a ride to go fast and long I would have bought a motorcycle.
The farthest I have rode it is from Folsom to Mercy San Juan to visit my dad last week. I take it everywhere. I can get an 8 piece chicken meal deal, a bunch of bananas and a quart of milk in the storage under my seat. My truck has sat for the last two weeks. I have 340 miles on it so I have saved approximately $170 on diesel fuel. I believe my scooter was a wise investment. My wife is finally seeing this as well (she did not want me to buy it originally).
I am taking some flak from friends at work. One guy said 'have you ever heard of motorcycles? You can go farther and faster and chicks won't laugh at you ( but that is rare). I am always having other guys come up and ask me about the bike also have had people at stop lights ask me about it from other vehicles.... "can you go on the freeway? ... I need one of those... what is your gas mileage?...etc.
Also I think we have bought our scooters at the right time. Demand is going to go up and so are prices.

That's fantastic to hear Mike! Sounds like things are going great with the new scoot.
..and never worry about what anyone says, they're usually the folks still driving on four wheels and paying out the ying yang for gas - so you get the last laff heheh

Yes!!!! You can swap a 150 or 190 into it from an elite...

Elites still look like vacuum cleaners, all these years later

I'm really coming around to this scooter idea though.

Or you could simply drop a little gas turbine engine into it

Chrysler did turbine cars in the middle of the last century. They were pretty clever. They had a 2-spool engine with the high pressure turbine driving the compressor and the low pressure turbine driving the wheels, so it didn't need a torque converter or clutch, and it had max torque at zero RPM. And they had a nifty radiator in the exhaust that dumped back into the flow ahead of the burner to keep exhaust temps low and reuse the lost heat. They never really solved their excessive fuel consumption which is what killed it. I kind of wonder what could be done with turbine-electric for things like diesel trucks but modern emissions laws would probably make it prohibitive.

The only reason I would want a little more than 150cc is for a drive to Rancho to where I am teaching Summer School. If I really think about it...I can't drive on the freeway right now anyway and once I could, summer school will be over. The scooter I got definitely serves the purpose of riding in and around Folsom. I rode down to the Carmichael area (near I80) today and was able to stay with the flow of traffic and didn't ever need to reach a speed faster than 50 mph.
How much would it cost to switch out from a 150cc to a 190cc?
