Our Judicial system has long ignored the 6th ammendment to the constitution.

The judicial system has no concept of "speedy". Have you been disillusioned in thinking our government pays attention to the constitution? Unfortunately, Americans won't wake up until it is too late, oh wait, it's already too late. We have already been completely screwed out of our rights and they keep on whittiling away at them more and more.

I'll give an explanation as to the "speedy trial" concept guaranteed in the Constitutation. The speedy trial is for the person CHARGED with the crime, not the victim(s). And in cases where there is a lot of community outrage and/or perceived guilt before trial, it is ALWAYS IN THE DEFENDANT'S BEST INTEREST TO LET THE OUTRAGE CALM DOWN, before asking for any court proceedings to begin. This is why you read about criminal trials beginning 1 year or usually more after the crime - just check out today's newspapers and news websites and look at the trials that are just starting the process. Read about the crime and see if you remember way back when that crime occurred. You're certainly not nearly as emotional/outraged now are you? That's what defendants and their attorneys are hoping for because they have to choose jury members from among you. Hope this helps with the question about speedy trials.

You are right, Terry. The only time it is in a defendant's best interest to exercise his right to a speedy trial is if he thinks the prosecutor hasn't had time to get all the evidence lined up for trial. I've seen defendants insist on a quick trial to try to catch the prosecutor flat-footed.

Wouldn't now be the perfect time to insist on your Constitutional right given the backlog in the courts and the reduced staffing for the DA?

No. Now would be the perfect time to start demanding that legislators pass a law that all child molesters be given given the death penalty; just as all violent rapists should. Shoot 'em, electrocute 'em, hang 'em, chemically annihilate 'em, put 'em on an island and blast it with agent orange.

I wonder how quickly the death penalty would get passed through all the loop holes when we start killing people that like to hurt our children?

I'd rather see a law that eliminates special treatment for them, instead. Put them in general population. Much faster and cheaper than the State sponsored death penalty.

Because a "double-tap" to the head is the way this country handles it's prisoners, you (mod edit) Admission to the trading of child pornography, although a federal crime, is also a mitigating circumstance in the United States judicial system.

Ha ha! anyone who calls me a neanderthal for being outraged that a child raper lived in our midst must be a family member in denial or a rapist itself.

Not worth my time....
