HA! I find it funny that you're telling Davburr to learn about the Culinary World! This dude has eaten everywhere (OK, except for Midtown Sacramento), all around the world, loves food and holds such an open foodie mind.

hehehe thanks cw! I do love good food and always keep an open mind and enjoy trying new things

and I do need to get down to midtown one of these days.... so far the farthest I've gotten is old town Sac where I like Rio City Cafe best

I sure wouldn't mind getting out and trying more but time and $ constraints prohibit that at times

one thing I enjoyed about my business travels was it put me in places where I had to try new things (my trips to Asia are a complete story alone) and with the company footing the bill - lets just say I didn't ever hesitate when it came to choosing higher end culinary delights

speaking of foods and restaurants - has anyone been watching Kitchen Nightmares?

Has it been on? My stupid TiVo box isn't recording any! But I'm willing to bet wifeys horror movies have been taking precedent.

I hear the UK version is on tonight...

Insecure people usually like TO BRAG by using the words
“my business travels”, “the company footing the bill”…

Being a people watcher… it is rather hilarious.

I've been watching both - the US version is on Weds nights on Fox at 9pm and the BBC version is on at 6pm

ha! that was bragging? thanks for letting me know...

Since you want to go there - I have to add that it's also hilarious reading ""In Folsom, most restaurant owners are from the Bay area and have limited knowledge of the food business."

(while you recommend restaurants in the bay area)

or "I would like to see this kind of employer out of Folsom, and out of USA."

(while you say you have no vendetta's against any business owners here)

or my personal favorite "I am no one. Simply a couch potato, 500+ pounds, live in my mother's basement, an independent thinker". followed by "I am not someone in disguise, and I do not know anyone of you."

(later you say you've met stevethedad before)

at least you all know who I am and where I stand - I am honest about myself and the things I say - I don't hide behind anonymity and silly quotes intended to bash people

but hey thats just me - no offense

Davburr, if you get a chance to get down to midtown, I suggest you try Zocalo (great mexican, try the chicken mole enchilada) and Crepeville (great big crepes with filling and you can substitute the potatoes for fresh fruit). Also Bodega Aioli (slightly more expensive but delicate and unique Spanish food), which is right around the corner. I love this little cluster of restaurants.

and for everyone, I love the Persian restaurant across the street from Winco on Greenback (where the Lumberjack used to be). I can't remember it, but I love this place.

I was at a place where stevethedad was recently...I didn't know who he was at that time until a few days later.
Folsom is a very small town... and I am sure I met you, davburr, and others a few times in the past ..I just don't know your/their identities.

"IN THE BOX" = your knowledge, not where you live.

I realize you are the king of your food groupie, of course. "on the island of the blind, the one eyed man is king".

I am "no one", an independent thinker, and under no peer pressure.
Thank you for NOT PAYING attention to me...

Lets move on.

naw, I'm not the king - I'm just merely a player

I resent you saying I'm "in the box" aka closed minded and that I'm on an isle of the blind - who died and made you the main authority on restaurants and foods? especially when you won't tell anyone why you make such claims about some places and wont' tell of your background (you could do that without revealing who you are ya know)

and FYI, the main reason I give you grief and question some of your reviews is because of your continued insults via quotes and your high and mighty attitude - maybe its you who think he's the king - or should I say queen being that you're female

Mucho thanks! those places sound great and I will have to try all of them soon. What's the best way to get there and where is parking recommended?

I would take Hwy 50 west to Sacramento, take the exit right after the 99 south exit (its the second one under the big overpass for 99/business 80), go along the frontage street a few blocks then turn right on 21st Street. Go down 21st Street to Capitol. Turn left on Capitol and then start looking for onstreet parking after you cross 19th Street. You can also valet in front of the restuarant, but what's the fun in that?

check out this website. they show the restaurants (this page goes right to zocalo) in the midtown grid. it's actually great food for a very fair price. you gotta try the mole enchilada though. and all three of the salsas they serve with the chips (complimentary) are outstanding. and its BEAUTIFUL and fun inside.

I forgot to ask earlier.... is there anything else to do around that area while there? trying to figure out if I should take the misses out there early to check stuff out, or just go at night for dinner and back?

I like that link, been looking at it for a while and of course its in my restaurants bookmark now (thanks again)
