Harleys.... yeah, that is abother story. This is an entirly different kind of rider and attitude... we can use extremely general sweeping sterio-types here right? The HD riders I have spoken to in person, tell me they don't split because of their size, but I know others do.... and have that attitude. But for all you auto drivers out there, don't worry, because they don't like other bikes either. HD riders are typically the only ones that won't return the "bikers' wave." But, that is another thread on a whole differednt forum.

hey now, come on you know Cadillac drivers are special people, especially the ones in Escalade SUV's rolleyes.gif

An Escalade is a Chevy Blazer, Suburban, Denali but with a Caddy badge. Are they special?

Oh, please...plenty of riders on all kinds of bikes don't wave. For that matter, plenty of riders have their own "brand snobbery". I can't recall the last time I had my wave returned by a fully decked out sportbiker. No big deal. I've owned and ridden a handful of different bikes, including my current Harley and I'm no different of a person on my HD than I was on either of my BMW's or my Buell. Most of the Harley riders I know just like to be out on two wheels and can appreciate other brands of bikes. They just happen to prefer what they themselves ride (which makes sense, considering they chose their bike).

The guys on Harleys wave, you just can't see it behind their billowing Gandalf beards

When I used to ride, I used to wave. Some would return, some wouldn't, I tried to always return the wave myself, I know quite a few times I didn't see the other biker and their wave until late and don't know if they saw my return, probably not as it seemed they were already past by the time my hand moved. I'm sure there are some I just completely missed. Some might not reutrn the wave from a snobbery viewpoint, and some might just not have noticed, so I never held it against another rider if my wave wasn't returned.

Riding a rice burner, slowly passing some Hell's Angels on a I-580 years ago, when I made it passed the front of the pack, believe it or not, the leader waved to me.

Hey, hey..... we got to stick together here - wave or no wave! smile.gif

Almost got taken out by an old lady in a red Toyota on my way to work (hwy 50). She must have been trying to split lanes with me laugh.gif

Dinky little horn, she probably never even heard it either.

I love that riders wave, sport bikes don't often wave, maybe they are too new for 1 hand??

I'd get waves on the vespa too, hell, I even got thumbs up from tough guys on Harleys! Maybe cos I'm a girl.... laugh.gif

I was surprised that the waves were doubled when I got the Dual Sport!! I hardly ever had 2 hands on the bike.

Was it a Prius? Those things are out to get every motorcycle rider out there.

the drivers tend to think they're special because after all, they paid more for their car rolleyes.gif

I think you're right - the sport bike riders are too scared to remove their hand to wave because most are too new to riding, that or all too often they're speeding too fast.... but golly, I don't wanna start stereo typing people like folks do to harley riders tongue.gif

seriously tho, I wave to all riders, its like a brotherhood of fellow riders out there taking the same kind of risks on the roads - no matter what brand bike, cause all that matters is that is has two wheels - period

people who live by and go off on specific brand names are usually way to wrapped up in themselves - they're also the kind you don't want to ride around because most often they are weekend poser riders
