I was very disappointed when I sent an email to Theresa Stanley regarding the elementary school library closure and did not hear one word back from her.

Very very disappointing. Those are the things I will base my vote on - whether the candidate is accessible, willing to answer questions and communicate with the families.

Barb: I emailed you immediately. I still have the copy in my outgoing mail box. Does your email start with anb...? That's the one I used, and it said that it was sent.

People can fault me for a lot of things, but lack of responsiveness is usually not one of them.

I'll go back and re-send it. If it's the wrong email address, let me know. You can email me directly at tstanley@fcusd.org.

Thanks.

Date change for the RC Candidate's Night

For those of you who like to make informed voting decisions, you might want to drop in for a Folsom Cordova PTA Council sponsored (moderated by League of Women Voters) candidate:

1. Wed. October 8, 6:15 p.m. at Mitchell Middle School (gym).

2. Wed. October 15, 6:15 p.m. at Folsom Hills Elementary School (multi).

I heard the Rancho Cordova event was moved to the Rancho Cordova City Hall at 6:30pm on October 7th. The City Hall and the district PTA is now co-sponsoring this event.

The Folsom event is still planned for Oct 15th at FHE.

If you are interested in really making up your own minds about which 2 candidates you should vote for, then I really recommend you come to these events!

No. They're two different events. The October 8 one has not been moved or cancelled.

Theresa: I just got the email that you resent. Yes, you had my correct email, I don't know why it wouldn't have gone through. Thank you for the information, unfortunately it came too late for our school - our only hope is that when the budget is finally signed, education won't face as deep of cuts.

Kumar Kalagara is one of the candidate. I do not know about others. In near future we will find out.

His ad is a bit creepy to me. He says something about "let's all hold hands". Maybe that is appealing to parents of 1st graders but I'm not sure I want some strange dude holding hands with my middle schoolers.

Must be a Rancho Cordova guy. According the the Folsom PD we have not had any gang activity in any school in Folsom.

Everyone knows my allegiance in this arena. However, we are talking about the "district, " which does include the "C" in FCUSD. Those of us who don't live in a box know Rancho schools have very different problems than Folsom. Folsom may not have a gang problem, but it sure has its share.

Sure hate to see Conrade get thrown under the bus for wanting to stand up for the interests of his community as well as put himself out there for the district as a whole.

P.S. it's sheriff.....not sherrif.

Food for thought:

LAUSD says it's set to cut bureaucracy

http://www.contracos...nia/ci_10580653

For those of you concerned with budget shortfalls affecting everything from third grade class size to music and sports programs. Read the above article.

It seems evident that the FCUSD has the same problem, a blotted bureaucracy.
I have been very disappointed with responses from school board members and others in the District regarding reducing the bureaucracy in times of budget shortfalls, rather than taking it out on the kids and parents. The response always centers around the same BS about "mandates" and how the bureaucracy must still administer these State mandates even if money is not available.

This may be true, but it does not answer the question: Why is the District not FIRST cutting itself, before it cuts school programs? I believe that the analogy, "Wolf guarding the henhouse" is appropriate.

Rather than pick apart, or support, candidates on various class/school related issues alone, I suggest looking for candidates that will push hard, real hard, to cut out all deadwood at the many District offices first. This alone could free up the money to address all other issues.

Regards,
Bob

I just found out that Folsom High has more than one VP. Why is that? Is that really necessary?

Thanks for acknowledging that there is more to the school district than just Folsom. I actually lived in Rancho Cordova for many years before moving to Broadstone. I think it's important to elect people that come from different parts of the district to be able to have diverse opinions.

I think we need change and from what I've seen, there are many great candidates that will be wonderful for Folsom. So far, Conrade seems the most genuine and hard working guy out of the bunch.
