Yes....and how will this affect (the 26% of our taxes) if Sutter wins this contest sponsored by a private company? I'm still not seeing the connection you are trying to make.About 26% of our taxes.
K-12 education. States are one of the main funders of the nations public elementary and secondary schools, which some 50 million students almost nine out of ten enrolled school-age children attend. About one-fourth of state spending on average, or about $260 billion, goes toward public education. States generally provide grants to local school districts (or to cities or counties, where those entities are responsible for administering schools) to fund schools, rather than paying teacher salaries and other school costs directly. Local governments are the other primary funder of public schools. The federal government pays less than 10 percent of public school costs.

It won't at all - I think DUDE was responding to another post related to post that suggested that "if one is a taxpayer then how could they NOT vote for this" or something like that.
Any amount of help from the private sector will not affect the public support for the school or any other school. But as the government aid for all of our schools K-12 and CSU and others dwindles it is nice the Sutter will at least gain the $70K ( Retail ) for computers and software.
Another great day in the adventure of exploration and sight.

That's crazy!!! (the hacking)
I totally agree with you (Schools in smaller communities may have superior projects but don't stand a chance with this system).
Just think, when Folsom wins, we can all congratulate ourselves on cheating (the hacking) & our multiple email accounts created just for this vote.

If not awarded the single "People's Choice Award", they will have a very fair and probable chance at one of the four "Grand Prizes".
Daily voting is crucial

I'd venture to say that they each probably have more followers than us all combined.

Look for that icon in the upper right of the post when you mouse-over, click it and pick the option that suite you best.
Or perhaps something like the drop arrow:

Hello my name is Kim. I'm from that small "farm" community that everyone is trying to beat.. This contest was designed to help our children and our schools..It pretty sad that "some" have had to resort to cheating to win.. What does that teach our children.. Our school may be smaller than Sutter and we may be a farming community, but that doesnt mean that our children havent work just as hard to get where they are..Our community has been through alot these last 6 months with many of our towns destroyed by Hurricane Irene.. It says a lot about our community that we can pull together and show support for each other..that our school of 1000 children vs a school with several times that can hold pace with them...THATS WHAT COMMUNITY MEANS TO US!! no matter how big or small..we are there to help each other..whether we win or lose we are very proud of our students and all that they have done..and our children will be winners either way!!!That's crazy!!! (the hacking)
