You mean the place where you could watch the submarine races?  ;) I'd settle for being able to park there again and maybe a shaved ice cart.

I wonder if the airplane wreckage surfaced they've been looking for?

Did you hear they have had a sonar And dive team looking for the plane? They said they found anomalies, but the divers said there was so much silt covering them that they couldn't tell yet.

Howdy folks,

I have had several requests for a second, larger rain ceremony at the lake. I would like to work with a local meteorologist on this. Does anyone know of someone that may be interested in helping?

Many thanks!

In other news, I was out on a bike ride with my dad today and we stopped at the top of Folsom lake crossing to look at the lake. No sooner than we stopped a guy with a security vest on walked over to us and told us we were not allowed to stop and loiter or take any pictures from there. I told him, I know you're just doing your job so don't take this personally but you cannot tell me I can't stop here or take pictures. He told me he would be calling the sac county sheriff so they could have a word with me...wtf is this about?

Its that way on the water side also. You get close to the dam or construction in a boat they will play warnings over a loud speaker to leave the area. You can see the white guard towers set up along the dam with the radar on top spinning around. Truth or not, I was also told that they had a system there than they can aim in your direction that will concentrate a loud sound that will want to make you leave the area. What did the Sheriff say when he arrived?

wow!  they really are serious!  if that continues after the work is done, its highly unlikely they're going to let us park up there in the future then.  What a shame.  That spot had the absolutely BEST vista in Folsom.  In winter and spring you could see the beautiful expanse of the lake full of boaters with the snow-capped Sierra behind it.  Picture postcard stuff.

Who would be the contact to find out where it is okay to go? I am organizing a group trip to the lake where we will hike after the ceremony and want to be sure we are respecting the rules. Is there anyone on this forum who could be an ambassador to working with the park/authorities?

I left before the sheriff showed up, if he was even called at all. I think I want to go press the issue now. There is no signage or anything and it's public property. I'm not on a levy or the dam. I don't think they can do anything.

I'll guess this is not Folsom Lake, no?  With no surrounding foothills, I'm guessing this is just a neat pic of dried mud.

Scary looking chart of the lake level.  We are waaay below even the '76-'77 levels. This could get uglier than anyone even imagines if Mother Nature doesn't get her arse in gear.

completely agree.  If anyone knows why after Gov. Brown declared State of Emergency all cities aren't on a mandatory 20-30% reduction (whatever that means)....and how on Gods green (brown) earth are we still allowed to water our lawns 2x a week?.  We've stopped watering our lawn, but if rest of communities that draw from Folsom Lake aren't on a mandatory reduction then we are taking one step forward and two BIG steps backwards with water conservation.  And shouldn't there be a time limit on how long one can water their lawns.????

My school's custodial staff hasn't been told to reduce the amount of water used to keep the lawn green. I guess the reduction only applies to us citizens with homes! :(

I was at Sutter Middle today and my daughter told me they just reseeded yesterday!
