IMO...I think a lingerie/porn/sex shop...or whatever kind of store Mz Teaz is, takes away from the "Quaintness" of Sutter Street.
I'm thinking if I am a visitor walking down an old historic street.I would not expect to see this type of shop there. I'd expect to see family friendly type shops since alot of folks bring their families to sight see the old town. I don't blame people for being shocked at all. Maybe not offended, but I'd be shocked just the same.

Maybe I missed something, but what exactly is this lawsuit about?

You were allowed to open your store (and by your own account the store is doing very well)... so what is the harm you suffered?

At the risk of beating a dead horse:

I could understand people being shocked if there were sex toys and other adult displays in the windows, but such is not the case. Although I haven't noticed recently, the windows have usually featured dresses and lingerie. Nothing shocking. Certainly less graphic than the blown up close up women in bras outside of Victoria's Secret, in family friendly malls.

Lingerie isn't offensive or innappropriate to most folks.

I've been in the shop, with and without my family, and have seen old folks and families in there. There is nothing shocking on display. It's not a kid's shop, but nothing offensive to me.

I wonder what is so quaint about Sutter Street before Ms. Teaz came along, anyway? Are The Sutter Cllub, The Folsom Hotel, Hacienda, Yager's and Powerhouse Pub 'quaint'? They're bars!

Sutter Street is changing, and for the better. Instead of dusty old shops open limited hours and staffed by people who seem to want to be left alone, new businesses are coming in. Businesses like Lockdown, Pachanga, Ms. Teaz, Chicago Fire, the Wine Gallery, and Planet Earth Rising, are bringing that old ghost town back to life.

The day that Ms. Teaz starts hanging dildos in the windows (isn't that a song?) is the day we can be shocked.

For those in the know and that take the time to be informed, as we stated in the beginning of this discussion (reference the first page): "To dispel "any" question what so ever, we have asked for "NO" compensation what so ever from the city. We are also paying for this entirely out of our savings/retirement. IT is purely about what we requested from the city council and judicial representatives of the city from the beginning - to be treated fairly as we have done with them. IT is purely about standing up for our civil rights. In the beginning we were being treated fairly and the city's own judicial representation approved (in writing) of our business plan in its entirety - which possessed every thing we have in the store today; we have the letter in our possession and continue to share it with a great many people interested in seeking the truth. Several weeks (last September/October) into building out our dream (Ms Teaz), we were met with some pushback & strong aggression by a few well connected individuals making accusations without any solid justification (much the same as Mr/Mrs/Ms Al Waysrite who really has no real understanding or facts, but does have a lot of time to stir up trouble rather then applying this time to bettering their own life). This small minority was able to sway the city to force them to demand of us that we retain representation in order to approach the city from that point on at a great cost to us. The events that followed were not in order with our first amendment civil rights and a great many individuals who were witness to the persecution have been good enough to step forward and talk to our investigator and attorneys. Additionally, the city verbally attacked Ms Teaz, and our family rather then solely directing their concern of betterment of the city by strengthening their ordinances. Hence, we (family, friends and business) were wronged and fortunately we live under a constitution that does not tolerate such abuse to its people. As we have said time and time again “we have very little to gain from the lawsuit except for our pride and self worth as citizens.” Enough said - the courts will make the decision and fortunately there are knowledgeable/educated individuals reviewing the case prior to it being heard for a ruling. Now that the dust and settled, and we have SO many AWESOME people patronizing our store, we're very glad we're here to stay. smile.gif By the way, we're expanding! We've now added the upstairs to our floorspace and filled it with Halloween Costumes!!! Our Best to you All. Sam, Misty & Devon.

what you've failed to say is what relief you're seeking. I still suspect it is "damages" which is a euphemism for cash.

I recall during my graduate studies a discussion which has since opened my eyes to the sort of people I choose associate with in life and call my friends. The question posed was "Are all actions in life done out of self gratification and/or survival or does there truly exist acts which are done without any selfish rewards?" I recall talking in depth about acts of kindness such as a person pulling another person out of a flaming building whereby they are in turn putting themselves in the path of danger to help out another. Some may say this is simply a courageous person (is courage a term given to an individual who gets satisfaction from selfless acts?) ... Others may believe that the hero would never have been able to live life without the constant thought of leaving someone to burn... There are many schools of thought; however, I honestly believe in my heart that there are good people in this world (as well as there are bad). Accordingly, anyone who really has taken the time to meet Misty and I know that we get a lot of self satisfaction from making others happy. Moreover, we were making a lot more money with a less stress in our previous jobs; however, we are very social people, and we are both very giving so we love what we’re now doing (and have done). We really enjoy seeing and sharing in the smiles that our store brings. We’ve found we do not have a lot of time for negative people as we've learned that it is extremely difficult to share with them the happiness and energy that exists in caring for and enjoying others (Ebenezer Scrooge was one of the few able to cross over and see the light as Charles Dickens was so famous for sharing with us). There are some who will unfortunately never really Get IT and waste needless energy from their limited time of this earth making certain others know of their disappointment with life. Fortunately, there are so many how really do Get IT, and we’ve enjoyed meeting each and every one of you.

Many thanks for this intelligent response. My partner and I "Get It".

We share the identical philosophy about negative people.
