Theres a great BBQ place in Shingle Springs. Its right off the south side of the freeway. Its called "something Texas BBQ". Check it out.

That would be Back-Forty Texas BBQ and Yes, it is absolutely delicious! They do catering too, and have used them many, many times for work functions, picnics, etc

But the best I've found in the greater region is Incahoots in Plymouth. Some Amador wine and good BBQ, Mmmmmmm.....

I recall eating there when my wife and I went wine tasting a couple of years ago. Make sure you have a few hours of spare time, because nobody around those parts seem to move very fast. It took almost 30 minutes just to get a waiter and it was probably another 45 minutes for the food.

If I recall I had a tritip sandwich and the meat was very tough. I mean leather tough.....I think I ate half of it and we left. Big dissapointment.......

Oh yeah, they have a sign up that says "Good food takes longer". It's not a place to go when you're in a hurry.

I've never had issues with the food there, always great tasting stuff!

From my experience, you can forget it around here for BBQ. Make a trip to Everett and Jones on Jack London Square in Oakland, it's well worth it. Quite possibly the best BBQ in the universe.

That would be true if I thought the food was good. Maybe I caught them on a bad day but my BBQ standards are pretty high. I guess my last few trips to Austin TX have somewhat spoiled me......

If you want really good BBQ I have to recommend Lucille's in Roseville/Rocklin. They are located next to RC Willy's. Best BBQ I have had in Sac area.

I've gone to Lucille's 4 or 5x's since they opened, even went this week on Monday for lunch with all my co-workers - it's the best bbq I've had in all of Northern Cali.

Its got a really great ambiance and a decor that makes you feel like you just stepped into someone's house in Louisiana. The service is above and beyond outstanding! They smoke all their meats right there all day long and they have some huge meals, albeit on the pricier side but well worth every penny. Their food is absolutely mouth watering and be sure to try the fried green tomatoes or fried dill pickles to go along with a half rack of sweet baby back ribs - mmm mmm good!

They also have blues or jazz bands playing on Friday/Saturday

Check it out: http://www.lucillesbbq.com/

Thats one of a very few restaurants that I'll leave Folsom and do the drive to Rocklin for.

We just had Lucille's takeout with some freinds a couple weeks ago. It was pretty good, but I think it would have been excellent if we ate at the restaurant. My husband has been dying for BBQ lately. Maybe we'll have to try some of the recommendations.

I found this thread becaue I did a search on Z Pizza. What's up with that place? We went there tonight and our pizza took 50 minutes. WTH? We called it in and they said 25-30 mins, but when we go there 20 mins later, I doubt it was in the oven. I was pretty irritated. THEN the pizza was not very good. In all fairness, I think it was our choice. We got one with roasted garlic sauce. I expected there to be "sauce," but it was just roasted garlic spread on the pizza. Oh well.

My least favorite places are ISLANDS!!! and Mimi's, Macaroni Grill, and Mel's.

I was there last week and the food was cold and took 30 minutes. The sides were not that great either.
Lucille's in Rocklin is much better.

Funny, we were just at Incahoots yesterday and the food was quite good. The wait was fine but that may have been because we were there on a Thursday. We had the dinner for two (combination) for lunch and ended up taking over half of it home for dinner too.

Oh yeah you know what I'm talkin about. How about those bisucuits they give you with the apple butter. Yum yum......

Their smoker is actually inside the restaurant seating area and is about the size of a small truck! Its quite impressive.

If you go, get there before the dinner rush because there can be long waits. (Typical of that area around the mall)

you should try Sky Sushi in EDH. The chef that created it formerly was an executive sushi chef in Vegas. The rolls are very original and taste great. Great atmosphere and food presentation

Gotta agree with this...the wife and I love Sky Sushi. Taiko was a good substitute when we didn't want to spend the extra dough at Mikuni's, but now we go to Sky almost every time.

I love Mikun's and have been going there for years. But everytime I go it seems like they have raised their prices AGAIN.

Our favorites:
  • Bailies - Best steak in town, and the new owner is very nice and welcoming. Never a bad experience. Also, Cafe Campanile in EDH is great for a glass of wine and a delicious dinner at a good price
  • Chinese - Rice Express in the old Ralph's shopping center
  • Japanese - Tokyo Sushi in the WalMart Shopping Center
  • Pizza - toss up between Pizzaria Classico and Chicago Fire (Chicago Fire may have a leg up due to the awesome buffalo wings!)
  • Mexican - I prefer Q'Bole for their awesome happy hour on Friday nights, and yummy mojitos! Can't think of the name of the other Mexican food restaurant next to Hoshall's on Folsom Auburn, but its pretty good, too
  • Good Breakfast - Seasons on Sutter
  • Best Sandwich - Beach Hut

Other Asian: Mongolian BBQ is very good as well. There's a new one in EDH by the theaters, I highly recommend that one, too.

Best place to hang out with friends - the Ravine in Raley's shopping center - great appetizers, yummy drinks and on Fridays and Saturdays there's pretty good entertainment.

Now for our LEAST favorites:

I can happily say that we haven't had very many bad experiences in Folsom. But the one's we have had have really stood out:

Grandma's Kitchen. I will not even go into our experience there AGAIN - I'm still trying to wipe it from my memory
BJ's - All I can say is...yuck
BoBo's - dried out and deep fried.
Sol Azteca - I may as well go to Taco Bell
Applebees - bluch!

worst places in Folsom:

Priya, Applebees, and Kabob House Greek. I tried once and ALL of the above had horrible food and horrible service. Never went back and never will.
