Macy's should be in there and See's Candy for sure....

I think there needs to be more practical stores than what I'm seeing. Half of those shops I haven't even heard of. It would be nice to see a J C Penneys in there too. I understand there's money to be spent in Folsom, so why not a Nordstroms? All I see is another mall with a bunch of stuff that most people could care less about. I'm not talking about every store I see, but most are of no interest. Anyone else feel the same??

When I lived in the bay area they made such a big deal of the Mall that opened in Milipitas, I think some of the stores there were similar to what I'm seeing for Folsom. Within 3 years, 70% of those shops in the mall closed their doors. I really do think the average, everyday person would like to see a bit more average, practical shops.

I was sure a Pottery Barn or Crate and Barrel would open there but it doesn't look that way. Those are a bit more practical for this area.

Once again, they couldn't get an anchor department store to come. With Elk Grove building a new mall, the Galleria, Downtown Mall, Arden Fair and Sunrise Mall, there weren't any takers.

If I recall correctly, Crate and Barrel wouldn't even consider it because the metro area isn't big enough for them to put in more than one store. Chicagoland only has nine stores total, and the metro Chicago area is 9.5 million people.

I agree with you. We lived in Santa Clara from 1983 - 2000 and was there when the mall opened in Milpitas and I would not be surprised if a lot of the new stores that open in our new mall last more than a year or two.

I don't think they'll last. When it's new, it all sounds good and exciting....When the novelty wears off, I think people want more stores that cater to things they need in their everyday life. Now I remember the name of the mall in Milipitas it was called the "The Great Mall" So much hype went into that...then 3 years later most all of the stores were gone.

Many of those stores are not going to be "frequented" by Folsom residents, but hopefully it can be a destination that can draw lots of new people from out of the area driving by. The close freeway access should help. If it looks interesting enough in the design and has good food and entertainment on site, it may draw people in especially from east of Folsom.

That's true. When you head up the hill, there's really nothing too much in the way of shopping once you're past Folsom. Here in Cameron Park, there's nothing. Placerville has TJ Maxx, which is nice, but not enough. I'm sure it will be a nice mall, I just wish there were a better choice of merchants. Who knows, things change and you never know what stores may end up there when it actually opens. I still want to see a Sees Candies though...lol

Frankly, I'm very happy to see some stores I've never heard of and that are somewhat out of the main stream.

Do you really want more of the same old stores? On this board, we always complain about the chains and chain stores. Now, there are quite a few stores (allegedly coming) that none of us have heard of and then we complain about THAT? Which way do you all want it?

Different is not bad. Don't be sheep.

Well said! This is just the first group anyway. They have a lot of work to do and there will be a lot of changes.

Interesting layout. I printed it out at work where I could get it on 11" X 17" but you still cannot read the names. Field/Paoli has done some outstanding shopping centers (Stanford, Stonestown, Corte Madera TC, Paseo Neuvo in Santa Barbara), but they have a tendency to be confusing to get around until you get used to them. There is something of an adventure involved in finding some of the stores. Palladio seems to fit that pattern.
The proposed store lineup is a great example of a large lifestyle center at the upper end of the scale. Whether or not they actually get all of these stores is open to question. The restaurant lineup is great and will give some fun options. CPK is probably my favorite for a casual night out. PF Changs is excellent and Ruth's Chris for a great steak would be a special occasion. I don't recognize all of them but I eat at an Armadillo Willy's occasionally and while it ain't Lucille's, it's not too bad.
The lineup includes H & M and Zara, the two hottest European/International apparel retailers and they would be a plus.
All in all this is a great tenant mix-----IF they can put it all together. smile.gif

Maybe a skateboard shop. That would be nice.

Along those lines, I'd love to see a good bike shop, but I suspect that the rents will be too high for that kind of use.

Never said different is bad. It would just be nice to have a few more practical stores to shop at so I don't have to drive to Sunrise Mall or the Galleria. I'm sure many others feel the same. As I wrote on another post, a mall with similar shops went up in the bay area. About 70% of the "trendy" shops didn't even make it 3 years.

Nothing wrong with chain stores, and yes, it's nice to see shops that are new. I see Barnes and Nobles is also included there - Does Folsom really need another book store? Between now and when the mall is actually completed, I'm sure we'll see many different shops than what is proposed, things change.

Wasn't there a dot com crash in that area around that time that was a big factor in the problems?
Anyway, has anyone confirmed that this list is people who have made a commitment or just considering it?
How many of those will be open in the first phase and how many are waiting until the full build out?
