now that would be downright wrong if the council boys were against the Cash bridge just to make our friend fiesty kerri mad

the thing thats screwy about california politics is that your actions don't have to please the voters that put you in office. on the state level its the screwy districts that make folks safe.

in folsom politics it who has the most signs out that wins and as long as the boys keep delivering on south of 50 the old developers will keep them in signs

this bridge thing is kind of a basic math problem and the council has it wrong. has anybody talked to the local country western station to get them on the honor cash idea.

I feel kinda sad that this blog has turned into a bash Kerri forum but she is getting my support and that of a lot of others....its like Kerri stepped into a "ring of fire"

Old Soldier... the ring of fire comment... cracks me up...

Kerri can be "abrasive"... but the reason I like her is because people have told me I am "abrasive"... but when you are sincere about something at least Kerri will listen...

I don't think I've ever changed her mind on anything.. maybe got a few concessions.. but if folks want that bridge to be named afte Johnny Cash... then it's going to take a few more "vocal" people than just on this forum to "get er done"...

We on myfolsom are a small percentage of the voting public. I hate to say that but it is true.
A lot of the people signed up here on myfolsom are not living in Folsom and some are not even in the state of California, I am guessing...

Kerri knows she can be a pain but that's why people like her. She doesn't care.

Anyway, my personal opinion: focus on Eric King. Sounds like we have Andy and Kerri on board. Eric may sway his thoughts if he feels there is enough public support. Email him, call him. Keep up the letter to the press, they keep eating it up.

Starsky and Miklos, I don't think there's a prayer they will change their mind. I almost get the impression that the more resistance they get, the more they convince themselves that they are doing the right thing. Don't even try.

They're building the dang bridge, aren't they? That's about a million times more important than what it's named.

Many voices go far... they eventually realize we are not the "vocal minority". If you feel very passionate about it, email your friends and neighbors. Just tell them to Email Eric and express their support. Don't be rude but be reasonable.

back to the vendetta.... your hatred of her really shines Robert... thats not exactly a good thing. Did you lose to her in an election or something? I don't get why you hate her so much

Dave, I can keep telling you I don't hate Kerri or anybody for that matter, you are free to choose to believe whatever you want! The fact is there have been at least 2 times in the past when groups have approached me about getting involved in a recall against Kerri. Both times I declined. Sharing that information with you doesn't prove anything other than there are already existing groups who are fed up with her. Its my feeling that 1 or both or another new one may try again this next year. If you feel that translate into I hate Kerri, well thats your issue not mine.

I'll be the gracious one and answer your question, even though I asked my first.

I truly don't care what we name the bridge. I don't think the current one would have been my first choice, if people want to change it I really don't care. If the community believes we should honor Cash by naming a bridge after him, I could care less.

What I do care about is the motives behind the process. I'm not infavor of naming a bridge after Cash so we can throw a big party and get 15 minutes of fame. Naming of public structures/parks should be based upon some honor rather some opportunity to sell something. I would hope we as a community aren't going to lower ourselves into doing things just so we can get something out of it. I always thought Folsom had more class than that!

I'm also concerned about ANY city council member who goes out on their own without the approval of their colleagues, implying consent to name something after someone. If that implies hate as well, then again that is your issue.

There are oppotunities at every single council meeting for council members to put items on agendas or make comments. Why hasn't anyone ever talked about increasing the promotion of JC before this. When somebody has had 10 years to do so, I question their motives now?

If want to look the other way because they agree with you on this issue be my guest. People who play games on this issue probably play games on all others.

BTW, since you volunteer for the city, maybe you could get that RFP for the sale of the land next to the HS? Thanks in advance!

But this is about honoring someone, Robert. It's not about selling something. We are honoring John Cash because he really did more than any other individual I can think of to make our town famous. I think that deserves some recognition. And I doubt Cash's children would go along with it if they thought the town was just cashing in (pardon the pun) on his name. I think they recognize his link and the significance too.

Robert, if you or anyone else decides to start a recall against Kerri you will have your hands full. There are also a lot of people here in Folsom that do like her. My wife and I like her because she always answers us when we have questions and she does not take any crap from "The Good Old Boys Club" that we have as a majority of the city council.

You do know that it is call the Good Old Boys Club, don't you?

Well anyway, if they start a recall you can count me as a committee of ONE to go out into the community and get people to vote against it.

UPCOMING ELECTIONS

Folsom's next regularly-scheduled election will be held on November 4, 2008. At this election, Folsom voters will elect two City Council members.

The nomination period for Folsom City Council candidates will be July 14 - August 8, 2008. Individuals who are interested in running for Folsom City Council should contact the City Clerk at 916-355-7270.

I believe that Eric King & Jeff Starsky are up for re-election in 2008 but not sure.

So, that should mean we oughta have an electronic townhall meeting on this forum...and vote for our choices who then become the endorsed canddiates of myfolsom.com
