Did someone steal it? I thought that was only catalytic converters.

Catawhatic whonow? Is that some new fandangled engineator?
No, it's sitting on the floor. Rather than replace CV boots and joints I threw in the extra $20 to buy complete new axles. It's just a real pain-in-the-arse to replace solo, and my buddy flaked on me last night so it's still out

Aw, the ole' flaky buddy excuse.

Yeah, I got me a couple of them as well.

So, I went to Tahoe Joe's recently because this thread mentioned the burgers there. I thought I had ordered the burger but apparently the waiter misunderstood and I got a 6 oz Joe's Steak.
I'm thinking about it -- dang, I really wanted to try the burger but oh, well. Anyway, I finish the steak -- pretty good taste, pretty tender but still got some texture. Overall, nice lunch.
I think about it some more later --- you know, the steak lunch was basically the same price as the hamburger. Steak, burger, steak, burger. I think in the end, for the same price, I'd rather have the steak!

Out of a notional 5-step scale of "Bad, Okay, Good, Very Good, Excellent"
Meat: Excellent. Tasty, juicy burger, prepared nicely.
Cooked: Excellent. I asked for medium, and got it. Very slightly pink in the middle.
Bread: Very Good. It's a bakery after all. But since it is, how about some more bread options? Wheat or rye might be good to try.
Toppings: Good, but... I chose blue cheese. The taste was pretty overpowering and the pasty consistency wasn't all that appealing. I'm not going to gig them for this because it's the fault of the cheese, really. If I had it to do over again I'd choose the cheddar. Because of this the rest of it wasn't all that memorable. It was some kind of salad thing with oil.
Fries: Bad. Not really fries but potato slices, left in a toaster oven or something until they turn brown and leathery. If they weren't so overdone they might have been all right. If they don't want to get a fryer, they'd be better off giving out a bag of potato chips.
Pickle: N/A Why doesn't anyone hand out pickles? Pickles are awesome.
Tea: Good.
Service: Good. But the line was a bit slow. Also there were a lot of close-standers. :-/
Ambience: Excellent. Nice spot, nice decor, everything very clean.
I bought a loaf of bread to take home, but didn't have a tie down on my motorcycle. I wedged it under the grab bar but it wasn't there any more by the time I got back to work. Ohhhhh well. Hope it makes a good meal for squirrels and ravens and none of them get run over for their trouble.

Meat: I'm going to have to go with Good, because behind the pesto, cheese, and onions, you could barely taste it.
Cooked: Very Good, asked for Medium Rare, only didn't get Excellent because it was inconsistent. One half rare, one half medium.
Bread: Good. Very tasty, although the bottom bun did start to fall apart under the pressure of the juicy burger.
Fries: Okay. Large chunks of potato, relatively bland. Overcooked on the outside yet still underdone in. Probably because they were so large.
Drink: Okay. No fountain sodas, only foofy bottled cream soda-esque items. I went with an Orangina. $2 bucks for a small bottle. Tiny "help yourself" glasses for water inside.
Service: Good. No table service, and quite a line even at 11:25, but very friendly staff.
Ambience: Excellent. Ate outside, beautiful day, thriving atmosphere inside a friendly neighbourhood cafe.
All in all, it was pretty good. Losing the flavor of the meat was a real killer for me. I still only taste cheese (I had the white cheddar) and the pesto. Perhaps no-pesto next time will yield different results.
I'd go back, but for the price I think Folsom Bistro is ahead in taste and quality. Too bad just a few blocks away the atmosphere drops dead.

This is the first time I've been to Karen's Bakery in old town. They have a lot of nice cakes, pastries and salads, along with coffee's, tea, sandwich's and the thing we were there for...a good burger

The place is arranged as you would expect any coffee shop/deli but with their nice old town location Karen's also has a really large outdoor patio area right on the corner that was comfy with some shade.
Naga was right, the place really did fill up between 12 and 12:30, it was nearly packed.
It seems like a good place to hang out, have a coffee, read a book or hang out with some friends, and their cuisine leaned on the healthy side which is always good.
The hamburger came with spinach pesto, lettuce, and grilled onions with your choice of white cheddar or blue cheese.

Karen's Bakery cheeseburger, plus glass of iced green tea. $11.31 (same as darth).
Out of a notional 5-step scale of "Bad, Okay, Good, Very Good, Excellent"
Meat: Very Good, it was very juicy...very very juicy.
Cooked: Excellent. This (to me) is what gets a place bonus points. I'm so used to having burgers overcooked, its refreshing to see it done right - both Karen's and Folsom Bistro are so far the only places that have cooked the burger exactly as specified.
Now for the life of me I can't figure out why I keep ordering medium rare when I'm pretty sure I really want it to be medium
This folks - is what medium rare looks like... it tastes really good but man is it messy with juices

Bread: Very Good. I assume the buns were baked right there? I also agree with darth, it would be neat to be able to try the burger on different bread options
Toppings: Good, but they were over powering, the pesto was strong, along with the blue cheese, I think maybe it was too much cheese, not sure but it would be nice to have more cheese options such as cheddar or swiss
Fries: Bad. I did not like the fries at all. they were just potatoes that had been quartered lengthwise and thrown into an oven for 7-10 minutes. If they had sliced them thinner and maybe put some seasoning on them they would have been better.
Pickle: N/A Why doesn't anyone hand out pickles? Pickles are awesome. (ditto what darth said). For the record Folsom Bistro gave out two mini pickles and Big Dip had 3-4 pickle slices on the burgers (just ask mylo heh)
Tea: Good. (regular tea)
Service: OK, service is at the counter
Ambiance: Excellent. Great nice spot on the corner in old town, we sat in their patio which was very large and had some shade.
Over all, I liked the burger but I have to say, out of the 3 places we've been to so far, Folsom Bistro still holding first place
We're going to try and keep things mixed up with a gourmet burger one week and a regular burger the next - so for next week's line up we are going to try the famous Carl's Jr six dollar burger
Come on down folks - or give these places a try on your own and post your opinins on them here - we'll keep a tally and eventually crown Folsom's Best Burger location

I just gotta say -- you guys are doing an awesome job with your reviews. My only wish -- one review a day (rather than once a week).
