Hello my name is Kim. I'm from that small "farm" community that everyone is trying to beat.. This contest was designed to help our children and our schools..It pretty sad that "some" have had to resort to cheating to win.. What does that teach our children.. Our school may be smaller than Sutter and we may be a farming community, but that doesnt mean that our children havent work just as hard to get where they are..Our community has been through alot these last 6 months with many of our towns destroyed by Hurricane Irene.. It says a lot about our community that we can pull together and show support for each other..that our school of 1000 children vs a school with several times that can hold pace with them...THATS WHAT COMMUNITY MEANS TO US!! no matter how big or small..we are there to help each other..whether we win or lose we are very proud of our students and all that they have done..and our children will be winners either way!!!
It's good to see that you and your community are taking this proud apporoach to the contest, you are very desrving of the award if in fact you do win.
However, let's not lose sight of the losses that our community has suffered as well. We have a mall that has taken at least 15 years to open and it's still in the early opening stages just now. We've had more than our fair share of specialty restaurants and shops close due to the economy and our pallet for bland chain food with a lively atmosphere. We also have people speeding on side streets and a very suspect city council that has hypnotized the voters into re-electing them year after year. Throw in a few catalytic convertor robberies on top of that and you can see that Sutter really deserves to win this contest...for the communities sake!
