Hello my name is Kim. I'm from that small "farm" community that everyone is trying to beat.. This contest was designed to help our children and our schools..It pretty sad that "some" have had to resort to cheating to win.. What does that teach our children.. Our school may be smaller than Sutter and we may be a farming community, but that doesnt mean that our children havent work just as hard to get where they are..Our community has been through alot these last 6 months with many of our towns destroyed by Hurricane Irene.. It says a lot about our community that we can pull together and show support for each other..that our school of 1000 children vs a school with several times that can hold pace with them...THATS WHAT COMMUNITY MEANS TO US!! no matter how big or small..we are there to help each other..whether we win or lose we are very proud of our students and all that they have done..and our children will be winners either way!!!

It's good to see that you and your community are taking this proud apporoach to the contest, you are very desrving of the award if in fact you do win.

However, let's not lose sight of the losses that our community has suffered as well. We have a mall that has taken at least 15 years to open and it's still in the early opening stages just now. We've had more than our fair share of specialty restaurants and shops close due to the economy and our pallet for bland chain food with a lively atmosphere. We also have people speeding on side streets and a very suspect city council that has hypnotized the voters into re-electing them year after year. Throw in a few catalytic convertor robberies on top of that and you can see that Sutter really deserves to win this contest...for the communities sake!

Hi Kim - welcome to MyFolsom.

I'm not positive about student enrollment, but I believe Sutter Middle School has far fewer than several thousand students. From what I see, it is closer to 1,200. Of course that same site shows your school with just under 500 students, so I'm not sure how accurate or recent the data are. Do you really have a 10-to-1 student-to-teacher ratio? Very nice! You appear to have more teachers for 480 students than we do for 1,183 students. As you may have guessed California's budget situation isn't the greatest.

I wish you and your school luck, just not as much as I'm wishing Sutter.

Our whole school from kindergarten through 12th grade has 1000 students.. not just Middle school.. I just want whoever wins, to win fairly.. not by people hacking to steal e-mails..its just not fair...I think that no matter who wins the kids will benefit..and that is what this contest was designed to do..help our children..

regardless of the suffering that both our communities have gone through.. this is a contest.. and hacking and stealing the competitions e-mails is wrong...if we win we will have done it fairly and by community support..unfortunately I feel bad that your school will not be able to say the same..

I couldn't agree with you more. And once we are done I can retire my 75 email accounts.... I'm kidding.

You have to admit their video is better and their project is more relevant.

I pointed that out as well quite some time ago, see post 11 of this thread.

this forum has post from people within your community disgusted by the hacking..I think page 8 #118 havent traced it back any further than that .. havent had time yet...I was very upset when I heard that this was going on and just wanted to let people know that our kids deserve it just as much as anyone else and we WILL NOT cheat to win it..

Maybe the_professor could explain a bit more about how his email was hacked.

My account wasn't hacked but it was announced at Sutter that hacking had taken place.

Let us not get distracted just because someone suspected an unfortunate child of directing his talent in wrong direction, it never was confirmed and it certainly isn't what any of us, here or anywhere, are teaching.

Let us vote for what we feel is the best production of "Show how science or math can help the environment in your community" and not whose community is more pitiful.
