To be clear, the article I linked to is a result of a quick Google search. I could link to other sites / articles too.
I'll agree with you that we need more information, but based on what we have learned, the mother was an idiot, plain and simple. Given the nature of her child that she had living in her house, she had no business having guns in the house. My assumption is this wan't the case, but the guns should have been in a safe and possibly also with trigger locks. If she didn't feel the guns should have been protected from her son, then they certainly should be safe from theft.
As for my experience with the violent kid - I've had several instances where I almost needed to step in and defend my children from this person if his parents weren't able to get him under control. Does this child possibly have issues other than Asbergers? Maybe, I quite honestly that isn't my concern. The safety of my children and others is what I care about.
In what stories have you read that those guns weren't locked up or had locks on them? What stories are you reading that said they weren't? I certainly haven't seen them.
Totally possible that kid cracked and killed his mother while trying to get access? or perhaps he found a set of bolt cutters and shears.
You cant call her an idiot without facts,
Which you lack.

I do have the facts. 20 children are dead. Seven adults are dead. All at the hands of Adam Lanza. He is ultimately responsible, but his mother takes a lot of the blame too.In what stories have you read that those guns weren't locked up or had locks on them? What stories are you reading that said they weren't? I certainly haven't seen them.

Take a look at EXCLUSIVE: Fear of being committed may have caused Connecticut gunman to snap.
Several sources identify Adam as being troubled. Are you suggesting having guns around a person like that is OK?

Very possible my sister's neighbor had a gun in their house. They kept it locked up with ammo locked separately. Their 9-yr old son watched and knew where it all was. He had a friend over, his Mom was downstairs. The kids got into the guns and be shot and killed his best friend. And he wasn't the least bit "off."

Baseball Bats - think about these stats for a while...
Sadly, and perhaps for another topic, but I have 2 nephews, they are brothers, and they are trouble.
One of them participated in a baseball attack which resulted in the victim's death. He did less than 3 years.
The other, armed with a gun, participated in the attempted robbery of a drug dealer. He got 6 years.
The difference? The killer used a bat, and the robber used a gun.
In reality, both of them should be locked up.

It is for that reason that I will not let my children play at homes that have guns, provided I know about it.Very possible my sister's neighbor had a gun in their house. How many people here, if there were handed a gun would
A) know how to shoot it well
B) have shot guns so they know it OK
C) could take a good guess
D) wouldn't have any clue?
Actually, none of the above. The first thing I would do is safety check the weapon by dropping the mag, opening the chamber, clearing the weapon, and all in a safe direction of course. And if you handed it to me muzzle first I would be upset with you, but I would understand since it's me....! : ) Chris

People also point out Israel for more guns but Israel has very strict gun control and very few guns. You must have a verified reason to have a gun and "self defense" doesn't count. A gun is considered a privilege there. Israel has about 1/10 the gun ownership of the US and roughly 1/10 the gun deaths.
Also, gun deaths are outpacing car deaths in 10 US states this year.
SWITZERLAND ISSUES EVERY HOUSEHOLD A GUN!
SWITZERLAND'S GOVERNMENT TRAINS EVERY ADULT THEY ISSUE A RIFLE.
SWITZERLAND HAS THE LOWEST GUN RELATED CRIME RATE OF ANY CIVILIZED COUNTRY IN THE WORLD!!!
IT'S A NO BRAINER!
DON'T LET OUR GOVERNMENT WASTE MILLIONS OF OUR TAX DOLLARS IN AN EFFORT TO MAKE ALL LAW ABIDING CITIZENS AN EASY TARGET.
Spread the word everywhere you can that you are a firm believer in the 2nd Amendment!
It's time to speak loud before they try to silence and disarm us.
You're not imagining it, history shows that governments always manipulate tragedies to attempt to disarm the people~

Again that artile is sensationalizing after the fact. There is no thing in the article that suggest " I was there when he said he was angry...when he said he wanted to kill his mom, when he said it was the schools fault"....blah blah blah...this is just nothing more than cheap news articles
The source and the "friend" should be ashamed

1. I didn't ask the procedure, I asked if you knew what to do and how well to do it. I would say your answer would be A.
2. I wouldn't handle a gun. I'd rather use my razor sharp wits and intelligence.

Switzerland has severely limited access to guns recently and has begun requiring guns to stay in arsenals rather than be brought home. Even then, Switzerland has about half of the guns per person that we do.
People also point out Israel for more guns but Israel has very strict gun control and very few guns. You must have a verified reason to have a gun and "self defense" doesn't count. "Outpacing" is not a convincing unit of measure that I would call solid by any means................
Israel has like less than 8 million people.......... So does Swizterland.......... So that is like comparing the LA basin to something else.........?
The problem is our culture, not our amount of guns or access to them.............
Remember, several existing "common sense" gun laws were violated by the Mom of the perp........... Add more so called "common sense" gun laws to the equation and what will you get.....? Zero, nada, nothing........but many dead people due to the fact that they could not defend themselves and were victims of crime because of the road blocks put up in front of law abiding citizens to obtain guns, carry a weapon concealed, or obtaining ammunition. And of course you won't believe what I just said because the leftstream press never reports about when firearms are used, everyday, to defend life, liberty, and property. More people were saved by guns in this last week by free people defending themselves and others than were killed in Sandy Hook. Look it up below......... Not that it can bring back these 20 beautiful and precious kids but remember, you only get half of the story with our press and it's inherent left wing, anti gun bias, at all costs, agenda. Chris
