it also lend to the idea, well I don't feel well- its prolly just a cold, no one can tell I don't feel well- so I will go get some gas, go to the grocery store, get on the light rail, go through a museum, walk alongside a foreign tour group staring at the capitol....oh look now im sneezing.

People are (a) dumb and (b) selfish. Our public health authorities need to anticipate that.
It doesn't help that the authorities have spread the message that one is not contagious if one does not have symptoms. While I hope that is true, it only encourages at-risk individuals to think, "Well, I feel okay... so I might as well head into a confined space with 130 other people..."
that was Nancy Snyderman's reasoning too. although she just went out in public, not on an airplane.

The CDC keeps repeating that the new Dallas patient "should not have gone on a commercial airplane" since she was in the monitored group.
My question is: Did anyone tell her that??
No one even interviewed these "monitored individuals" enough to learn that she was planning an out-of-state trip?? That is lame. I am beginning to form the idea that some heads need to roll at CDC. This is an unbelievable series of lapses.

and yet she tells us now she actually called CDC to see if it was okay to fly when she had a low grade fever and they said YES! CDC needs to have some heads roll.

Wait, she had a low-grade fever and flew? And she's a nurse?

This parade of incompetence is unbelievable--each revelation more stunning than the last. I don't know what to say--other than I'm sorry for the people who will die as a result of these missteps.

The levels of incompetence that are being shown here are indeed stunning, It almost, and I say almost, makes me feel like there is some sort of intention here.
I mean seriously, how could someone involved in this process be so clueless?

How much money have we spent for biological warfare preparedness? Seems the same strategy could have been used here and been effective. Incompetence is the only conclusion. I think saying it was intentional is giving too much credit.

(CNN) -- [Breaking news update, posted at 12:46 a.m. ET]
The CDC is considering putting 76 health care workers at Texas Health Presbyterian Dallas hospital on the TSA's no-fly list, an official familiar with the situation said.
Considering??? Too much considering and not enough acting by the CDC is what has put us behind the 8-ball. They still don't seem to appreciate the urgency of this situation.

I beg to differ. The parade of incompetence is totally believable and should not have been unexpected. We're dealing with a very scary disease and we're putting our trust in human beings to all do the right thing. I'm not holding my breath. This is going to get ugly.

Intention? You can't be serious. What kind of intention?
Sorry, had my tin foil hat on for a moment. Let's just move along and see how this unfolds.

What I find incomprehensible in this situation is that a person who knows she is in a watch group travels by plane at all. If it is true the conditions regarding the soiled linens is as bad as they say, I'd be surprised if more than two don't come down with ebola. Sometimes you just have to shake your head.

Boy, the tin hat people are coming out in full force. (Not you Nomad--I appreciate your measured response).
On another forum, I'm involved in a chat with someone who truly believes the CDC intentionally infected some Americans because "there is a lot of money to be made." Also, the CDC intentionally let the nurse travel on the airplane because they want to see if now the germ is airborne.
Personally, I find it a sad day when people really believe our government is no better than China or Syria--willing to murder its own citizens.
