You posted "if you want free speech, go to a town hall" (if you can't remember saying that, you can click on the "prev" button on the bottom of the page, it's short for previous and, no, you won't be taken back in time if you click it).

I'm still waiting for you to tell me what you can say in a town hall that you can't say here.

See, that's an actual question to you looking to have you EXPLAIN your post. It's a normal thing, or it used to be, where people were able to articulate their thinking behind what they say.

I know, it's a lost art these days. But explaining yourself helps others from thinking you're a 10 year old girl instead of an angry old man.

Now it's your turn to post something other than the most idiotic and telling response ("duh, look it up").

I'm generous tonite and will give you a few examples of free speech you can do in public (town square) and can't do on private property (this forum, at work, my front yard).

 

1)  You can talk any kind of hate speech in public without restrictions.  Do it this forum, you get kicked off.  Do it at work, get fired.  Do it in my yard, depends on who you're hating. Bash John McCain and get your butt kicked.  

 

2) You can burn a flag in public (free speech) without restrictions.   Do it this forum, you get kicked off.  Do it at work, get fired.  Do it in my yard, you get carried out feet first.

 

3)  You can express any unpopular political view you want in public.  Start a Nazi club in public is OK.  Start a Nazi club in this forum, get kicked out.  Same at work, get fired.  Start a Nazi rally in my yard, everybody gets carried to the morgue feet first.

 

After your civics class, you can add to the list.

You specifically compared speech in a "TOWN HALL" to this forum. I asked you to back that specific claim up.

I'm not sure what civics class you went to back before the civil rights movement but you might want to brush up on the subject again.

Not to pile on, but the origin of this discussion was Vinny telling Aces to get a real life and post on a FB page or an adult forum instead of here. As far as I know, Aces hasn't posted hate speech, tried to start a nahzee group or (lol) burned on online flag. You agreed that Aces didn't have the same free speech here as he would at a town hall.

I think I've sufficiently and eloquently proven that what you are both saying is wrong. You both don't like speech that you don't agree with and want Aces to stop.

The whole idea of "hate speech" or "hate crimes" is stupid.  Speech is speech. Some is uncomfortable, but the people claiming "hate speech" only do so to CONTROL what is being said.  Teel you what, I'll be ok with using hate speech to censor others when I get to decide what hate speech is. Sound fair?  As far as "hate crime," another stupid distinction. So a white guy killing a black guy is MORE hateful than a black guy killing a black guy? Child, please.  Evil is evil, no matter how you label it.

The ignorance here is astonishing.  Hate speech is protected by the constitution, numerous SCOTUS rulings, and allowed in the public square, town hall, whatever you want to call it.

Lately Pete only left wing hate speech is protected by not only the Constitution but by the MSM, the left wing MSM.  Right wing and you are branded a "Nazi", a "deplorable", a "right wing extremist" and thrown in jail or if not you will never work again, anywhere..........   The same double standard as always, we are used to it unfortunately.........  Free speech for the left, but no one else, don't you even try you "hateful" Conservatives and Libertarians....!   We will exclude you and shame you by our shear power of the media, the liberal, progressive, "tolerant of ideas" media.........     Chris
