Interesting that you are calling her by her first name. Maybe that's what this is all about. If that is the case--I'm sorry for her loss--but I still don't think that sending kids to CYA for this is right. I'm not saying the boys shouldn't or don't deserve punishment but also wonder--why is there so much anger in your posts? Don't you think that whatever the judge does is gonna be nothing compared to what these two boys must live with-for the rest of their lives?

And while I too am very sorry for her tragic loss I doubt, though I could be wrong, that a teacher of her caliber and a person dedicated to making a difference in the lives of children, would have any desire for vengence in the form of locking up these kids in the CYA where their psyche and souls would be scarred for life. Not a chance. Maybe ChipShot should think about what she would probably want and not himself.

Don't need 10, here's 2:
1. Kids racing,
2. Susan killed by kids racing.
Game over. CYA, here they come. Glad I could help.

Agreed...P.S. Mr.SHot if you do have children please let someone else raise them...I fear they may revolt against you and use your semi-automatic weapon in order to end the madness!!! I fear for you and the pain you may cause!!!!

Discipline is not locking someone in a box after they make a mistake...it comes before that...discipline/self control should be taught at a young age not everyone gets it however just because your parents did a diservice to you/those teens...doesn't mean we just give up and put them away forever!!!

As a society, we're slipping because we will not take full responsibility for our own actions. Not a single one of us can control another's actions, but we can take care of our. Quit your bitching, your complaining and your excuses. Do the right thing. Period.

It's pretty simple. A life was taken as a result of street racing. We have punishments prescribed for those who take the lives of others. Regardless of how nice the boys were, or how promising their futures, they have to take their punishment like everyone else. They are no better or worse than anyone else, and they should be treated no better or worse than anyone else.
I feel for these kids as I would my own, because they made a terrible mistake, but the same could be said for everyone in jail.
They won't have the key thrown away. They'll do time and probation. Let them serve their punishment.

In the past, we've shut down topics which got out of hand. Shall we do it on this one?

Well-said, cw, but unfortunately we have some people here who are excuse experts of exponential proportions. They know who they are. And their attitude is on the dangerous side.

I just rode 4000 miles on my motorcycle thru 8 states and I hate to say but of all the drivers I encountered.. the #1 worse, most ignorant jerky drivers were right here in our town

I think everyone was fine with the discussions until banana and chip started bullying people.
That is one thing I am amazed this forum allows...bullying! And then when someone else stands up and says HEY I WON'T LET YOU PICK ON PEOPLE! The mods get mad the the person who stands up.
I am confused why threats of shutting down a topic don't come until someone stands up for the people getting bullied and does not let the bully win!

You still haven't replied to my post Chipshot. Are you a friend or relative of the deceased?
If you are that would help explain some of your angst. It would also help to change the dynamics of this conversation.
Did you know her well?
