Are we stuck with it? Is it possible to get this on a ballot to change the name to the Johnny Cash bridge?

Why does this keep coming up? From the top of this thread, the 4 finalists were:
Johnny Cash
Folsom Dam
Granite City
Folsom Lake
I didn't see the City Council meeting, was Folsom Lake scrapped for a different 4th finalist? To me, it seems like it's #3 on our 74-vote MyFolsom poll of the 4 finalists.

Sorry, mylo. I guess technically you are correct. I just thought it would be Folsom Lake Bridge, not Crossing. Even then, they could have picked Folsom Dam Bridge, Crossing, whatever and still kept the name Folsom in there.
Maybe there's some hurt feelings on the council because they worked so hard to get the bridge built and no one submitted that the bridge be named after them.

Cause when you give directions it seems it would be more confusing when having all the directions start with folsom.
Start on Folsom auburn blvd.
Turn right onto Folsom Dam Rd
Merge onto Folsom Lake Crossing.
Merge back onto Folsom Dam Rd.
Map quest is gonna have a field day with that.
I hope they put a caution at the bottom of the directions:
Caution: do not stop on Folsom Crossing and get out of your vehicle. Highly paranoid Folsom residents may think you are an escaped convict and could start a thread about you on their local forum.

39 votes for JC, 11 votes for Folsom Lake, and from informal survey's I did with friends, neighbors and co-workers, the consensus was the same... I tend to believe that many people saying they're for it is not a random fluke..
so why did those guys pick that lame name for the bridge in obvious opposition to what the majority of Folsom would have preferred to name it? Just doesn't make sense..
but whatever... its just a name, it's not all that important in the grand scheme of things - it just could have been a great opportunity to promote the city....ah well
the best part is we got a new bridge in/out of town to help traffic flow better and that is great

Yes, Folsom Lake was one of the finalists. The only reason Starsky and Miklos voted for it was because it had the name "Folsom" in it. "Folsom Dam" was nixed because the Bureau of Reclamation started this whole mess and they didn't want to give them any credit. Miklos went as far as to say he'd rather name it after John Doolittle. He wanted "City of Folsom Bridge". I'm not joking.

I think Folsom Lake *Bridge* specifically was one of the four, which though still technically incorrect, makes more sense than Folsom Lake *Crossing*, which wasn't one of the four.
Or maybe it wasn't. But now that I look at it, I'm not sure if the final four were names, but more "themes" and the Folsom Lake "theme" was one of them.
So though Folsom Lake Crossing wasn't in the contest (not myfolsom.com's, but the bigger city one) and appears to have been magically pulled from a butt, the "naming it after Folsom Lake" theme was in the contest. So they could have called it "That Big Folsom Lake Car Driving-Over Thingy" and it would still be considered one of the final four entries.
I think.

Ahhh...the POOMA manuever. I know it well. "A development project with little or no requirements and no executive sponser? Sure, let me POOMA that for you."

That would be cool! Contact Jerry Bernau and see if he can incorporate that into his plans?

The options: Johnny Cash, Folsom Lake, Granite City and Folsom Dam. The council also will decide whether to dub the structure a bridge, crossing, expressway, skyway or span.
I don't see big crossing over thingy in the second decision there.

No, the new road to the bridge is further south than Folsom Dam Rd.
On the other side, I don't know what they'll call it, but the complete re-work on E. Natoma likely shakes things up over there, too.

Exactly what I said earlier, even though you criticized what I said and removed my unoffensive post.
I think it's the perfect name.
Kudos to the city council !!!
