I wouldn't say I have a "love" for the FPD. In fact, I'm quite skeptical of law enforcement and actually almost anything associated with government, but I have had my share of dealings with the FPD, and in general, I would say that my experiences with them have always been with them being very professional. Since living here, twice I've been pulled over, once I was given a warning that my vehicle needed better tire coverings, but they didn't issue a fix-it ticket, so I added mudflaps and fender extensions to comply with the law, and the other time, I was pulled over under suspicion of drunk driving but as I was stone cold sober, the officer let me go on my way after checking for warrants

Way off base Darryl...unless specifically designated, security guards are not peace officers and are not considered law enforcement at court. A lifeguard at the local swimming pool has more authority then a security guard and is recognized as a peace officer.

I was just wondering what a security guard would do if a knife was involved cause a lot are not armed. I am going to wait and see if the family gets attorneys invoved and that will be when a story will come out if there is one. I like how this old thread is getting fiesty
back in the cowboy days, roy rogers, gene autry or hopalong cassidy would have shot the knife out of the crazy persons hand

"A law enforcement officer (also called peace officer), in North America, is any public-sector or authorized, government-contracted private-police officer, charged with upholding the peace, mainly police officers, customs officers, correctional officers, probation officers, parole officers, auxiliary officers, and sheriffs or marshals and their deputies. A security guard, however, is generally not referred to as a law enforcement officer.
Modern legal codes use the term peace officer (or in some jurisdictions, law enforcement officer) to include every person vested by the legislating state with law-enforcement authority—traditionally, anyone "sworn, badged, and armable" but, basically, who can arrest, or refer such arrest for a criminal prosecution. Hence, city police officers, county sheriffs' deputies, and state troopers are usually vested with the same authority within a given jurisdiction.
Jurisdictions may restrict the powers granted to those who have "peace-officer status" instead of "police-officer status". For example, in New York, all New York State Court Officers,[1] as well as Court clerks,[2] assigned to the 1st and 2nd Judicial Departments are classified as peace officers who can carry a firearm both on and off duty."
Jafount has had a career of some length in law enforcement and I believe his comments are accurate. Off-the-wall comments by some disaffected wanabe Cop ex-Security Guard/Bouncer are not very credible. DD, you need to check your facts and check your emotions at the door!

Ditto. While some actual peace officers may moonlight or provide security services for private firms after retirement, just being a security guard alone does not make one a peace officer in and of itself. If the security guard is an off-duty police officer, they still need a special BSIS permit to carry while working private security.

The only time I've ever seen that Armored car being used is for photo ops at the Easter Egg hunt, etc. Seems like a bit of over-kill for Folsom.

It seems as if other cities use them for this type of incident watch Dallas swat or Detroit swat seen it a few times
