But I figure documenting my contacting her about this lays a foundation of negligence when Beck's continues to offer the promotion.

JM,....I am the "Rep" that DJ is referring to that received the Visa card last week.
Before you go spouting off about what you know so little about, let me clarify.
I do NOT work for the company and I am not even in MyFreeTravel's system as a "rep".
I have access to these Grocery Certs through a local broker I know who DID
NOT receive his Visa card yet either. If they were deliberately playing favorites they would
have sent his before mine since he orders hundreds of Grocery Certs from the company
and IS listed with them.

I have not sold ANY orders through MyFreeTravel, other then my personal one. I am in
"wait and see" mode before deciding to move forward with them but I did sell some through the Arizona company (BBZ) which I unfortunately got burned in as well. I went out of pocket to replace my customers with these new ones as Beck's appears to have done (No, I did not sell the Beck's account).

Last week I was told that all of the Visa cards tied to the August receipts were sent out.
However, I became informed through my broker contact on Friday that only part of them wentout and that the rest should be received by Oct. 31. Frustrating...yes!!!!..I don't appreciatethe changing terms and conditions either... but I do not think that this a deliberate scam given the Exec who runs this appears to have a clean rep (I am not a Private Investigator nor do I spend my day scouring the 'net doing background checks either).

My best guess is that when MyFreeTravel attempted to takeover the business from the
last company that went under they underestimated what they were taking on. Just
looking at the vengeful people on this board alone multiplied across the entire US and
Canada and one can only imagine how their Customer Service lines are clogged
to the gills with people screaming, "Where's my Visa" and "I'm going to the BBB" etc.

Bottom line is I too am disappointed with how they are handling things but they need
to be given ample opportunity to deliver and, hopefully, get back on track. Those
"replacement" certificates that you and the others got from Beck's were sold at a steep
discount so that brokers and reps, like me could somewhat afford to make ammends with their customers by giving them out. I am sure MyFreeTravel is losing their backside on
the replacement stuff on top of the cost of having to be tied up with answering BBB
claims. I understand most of those were from people "bitching" about having to send a copy
of their driver's license. I am sure they were not expecting THAT!!!!...Once those complaints came rolling in they HAVE to answer them or risk their rating going in the commode. They apparently vastly underestimated the sniveling crybabies that are taking vengence out on them for the problem that was created by another company. Just because someone "female dog" slaps you (calm down, it's just a metaphor for what BBZ did to all of us) doesn't give you the right to sucker punch the guy (or gal) standing next to you who tried to help but did a less then adequate job of it.

I am more then happy to share what I know about what is going on but my info probably won't be dramatically better then what all you guys who are calling in every day are getting but I am willing to help where I can. I have a contact in Cust. Service who seems to be
somewhat know what is going on and I will be calling him tomorrow am for an update.
If I hear anything substantive I will report back. Everybody take a deep breath and go
watch the MLB Playoffs and stop obsessing over these little Visa cards.

Interesting information none the less. I for one though was not transferred over from BBZ, I started from scratch with MyFreeTravel. I'm holding MyFreeTravel to their exact terms as they have held me to their exact terms or they would of quickly disqualified me without question. 4-6 weeks from Aug 31st was when I was to receive my visa card. Maybe they need to consult with Webster but....receive is not "in the mail". Tomorrow if I still do not have it will mark week 7.
I asked the CSR of myfreetravel if I could be 1 week late sending in my rebate form since it would only be fair. She then prompted me if I would like to quit the program. rolleyes.gif Funny how those things work. I really don't care to hear their sob story of why they didn't mail them out on week 3 or 4 so everyone would have them by week 6. I have followed their terms I expect them to do the same.

Agreed, but I am just trying to shed light on the bigger picture. You unfortunately
came in to MyFreeTravel at a turbulent time (they are taking on the angry
customers from old company). I too am not happy on a few levels with
them but I am not about to advocate taking it to the courts and trashing their
BBB rating just yet.

I have no stake in this (have not bought from Beck's and am not awaiting Visa cards) but seriously!??! Really??!?!? You would actually tell a customer to stop worrying about "these little Visa cards!??!

In this economy, $600 is a LOT of money to many folks... And, quite honestly, if there are thousands nationwide who are owed this money and not getting it, well, it's more than a "little" money.

I think it's that attitude that has so many so upset. It's not "a little" to many...it's a lot and if they aren't getting the money in a timely way, it's unfair to have people spending so much time trying to get said money. And, if they don't get it at all, it's more than a little unethical. And THAT is what has people so fired up...they shouldn't have to be spending so.much.time on this process and not ever seeing results. So no, it's not a "little" problem....

First of all... Thank-you for telling your side of the story. I am glad that you have a gift card, but that doesn't actually help me any. Today, Laura from Beck's admitted that their employees who are using the certificates haven't gotten anything either. So you are the only person we have any evidence of receiving a card at this point.

As for the complaints to the BBB about my free travel. They were not in regards to people complaining that they had to send in a copy of their ID. It was the fact that MyFreeTravel did not make that fact known in the instructions for submitting the rebate. It was buried in the middle of the 31 terms and conditions. If they didn't anticipate people being angry about that fact, they aren't very smart. I caught that in the T&S, so I did send in my ID and that is not my issue.

My issue is that the original terms and conditions (the ones which do not say they can be changed without notice) state I will receive my first card 4-6 weeks after I submit my receipt. That was October 2nd. Then they changed the T&C to say 4-6 weeks after August 31st. That was October 12th. Now they are telling you it will be by October 31st? This is the same pattern of behavior displayed by BBZ. As well as the behavior displayed by tidewater (the company based in Florida preceding BBZ)

I am willing to wait... but every day that goes by without a gift card in my mail box makes myfreetravel more suspect.

One final note. It is silly to say myfreetravel stepped in to help the industry. Even if they are a legitimate business, they stepped in to salvage the BBZ customer-base for themselves. This isn't philanthropy on their part...

Rule number one in ANY business...Don't make your customers hate your company...

It doesn't matter that the promotion company went belly up. The buck stops at Becks. Any business owner foolish enough to piss off a multitude of potential return business (and by word of mouth, new business) doesn't deserve my patronage. Had Becks handled the situation appropriately, people would have spread a favorable word about them even if the promotional company made them mad.

I know I will never shop at Becks based on their "customer service" documented on these boards.
