The BBC featured Baltimore in a scathing report on poverty in America. At least 25 percent of the people in Cummings' congressional district live in poverty.

"If you want to know what poverty in America looks like, well this is it," the BBC reporter declared.

One resident told the television network that "despair is a way of living" in a congressional district where second and third generations of Americans live in poverty.

The resident said the houses are "rat infested, regardless of what you do as a person living there, roaches, mice, an epidemic of bed bugs."

"The neighborhoods have fallen apart, not because the people are bad people," the man said.

Baltimore city schools rank among the lowest in the state of Maryland, according to the CBS television affiliate in Baltimore.

In 2015 the Washington Post reported that the average life expectancy in some of the citys poorest neighborhoods is nearly 20 years below the national average.

Fourteen Baltimore neighborhoods have lower life expectancies than North Korea, the Washington Post reported. Eight are doing worse than Syria"

As the clown car known as the Democratic party primaries gets another chance to display their socialist platforms this week, here's what a study says that they want to do to America in the name of the Green Deal:

For example, the study found that the battleground state of Pennsylvania would face over $2 quadrillion in costs for upgrading residential, commercial and industrial buildings. Florida would encounter a $1.4 quadrillion price tag and New Hampshire, one of the first primary states, would face $102.8 trillion in retrofitting costs.

A quadrillion, which is equal to one thousand trillion, is represented by a 1 followed by 15 zeroes. One quadrillion would be roughly 250 times the annual federal budget.

The two others saw costs that were much higher than even the national debt -- $352.8 trillion for New Mexico and $533.4 trillion for Alaska.

Ocasio-Cortez has downplayed cost concerns and mocked conservatives whom she argued were like Dr. Evil, demanding outlandish ransoms in the "Austin Powers" movies. But a host of studies -- albeit, mostly from right-leaning organizations -- have found that the Green New Deal's costs would be astronomical.
