I stopped by the cookie shop on the way home last night. There is a sign in the window... they are closed.

Well, that just sucks. I've never had cookies as good as those.

eta: I think if I like a place, it's guaranteed to close. Why can some really bad places still be open!?!!?!

here is some good news though.

had lunch at Acorn yesterday and they are doing great. Lunch was excellent, as usual. I want to try the dinners now. We looked at the dinner menu and there were at least 6 entrees I would love to eat. prices were right and each one can with salad and sauteed vegies. hard to beat that.

I don't think the cookie shop closed... last time I went in she said business was pretty good. There was a sign saying she was taking a "must needed vacation".

Is it just closed temporarily? Those cookies are the best!

I went by there last night... It is closed for good. The mexican joint next door looked open, though.

You can add Jack in the Box at Natoma Station to the list. Just drove by and noticed a U-Haul truck outside and closed signs on the door.

I'm not sure what it takes to keep a chain store in business but I live and work close to this one and they seem to have as much business as any other fast food place.

I feel for the employees. The girls that ran this one were always smiling and very pleasant to talk to.

Not shedding any tears here for fast food chains closing. And I don't feel Folsom needs more than 1 of any chain restaurant IMO. Just a few good restaurants smile.gif

When you look at it as a chain store owned by a corporation serving unhealthy food it's easy to think this way. But this is a business owned by and employing real people. These people are now out of work. This is sad IMO. It's rare to be served by smiling faces at any fast food place. These girls worked hard and appreciated your business.

And I don't feel Folsom needs more than 1 of any chain restaurant IMO.

I understand why you feel this way. Folsom used to be a quiet little town by a lake. One of anything was more than enough. Not any more. 70,000+ population, Intel, Automall and a regional mall on the way. Only the people patronizing these restaurants can determine what Folsom needs. In this case I guess Folsom only needs one JITB. I'm just not sure why when it seemed to get plenty of business (including mine).

Same is true with Malabar and several others on this post. You go eat there and the place is busy. Then the next month the U-haul is parked outside. Must be a tough business to run!
God, if I can’t have what I want, let me want what I have.

I always think of that area as an extension of Orangevale. My bad. There were three including that one. The other is at Bidwell & Blue Ravine and the one closing is at Natoma Station & Blue Ravine.

All the Jacks in No Ca are under receivership, Abe Alizadeh the franchiser, ran his corporation into the ground. The receiver has been trying to clean up and close units that were under performing and showed little hope, so that they can get the 70+ units ready for a sale.

Sac Bee had an update on the fate of local Jack's today:

on the Folsom unit, it says they could not get a rent reduction.
