I'm not sure what you mean by you didn't do "anything differently than anyone else here." Do you know for a fact people are doing that or being encouraged to do that? You said you did it successfully by voting. I wish you wouldn't do that because you may be jeopardizing the hard work these students have put into their video presentation.
There are people who have opened stated here that they have used multiple pre-existing emails under their own (ONE) name to vote multiple times. You too can go back & read every single post to find out who is advocating this...unless those posts have now been edited &/or deleted (I do have a copy of all of posts I collected from my research).
I did a test with 2 pre-exisiting emails under my name...ONCE. A drop in the bucket compared to those who have been voting daily under a minimum of 5 different emails under ONE name. I'd hardly say my test is jeopardizing the hard work of the popularity portion of the contest.
I think one person voting five times with five different emails IS absolutely different than three people in one family voting with three valid emails.
I completely agree with you
I don't think making up emails is honest and I don't know of anyone that is encouraging people to do that.
I agree that making up emails is dishonest.
BTW, you might want to recheck the official rules for voting guidelines... well I did, and this is what it says:
The People's Choice winner will be that entry that receives the greatest number of valid votes by the end of the Public Voting. The People's Choice winner will not be eligible for any additional prizes. Limit one (1) vote per person and per validated email address per day during the Phase Three Public Voting Period. Votes received from any person or email address in excess of the stated limitation will be void.
It does not specifically state that an individual CAN or CAN NOT use multiple valid pre-existing email addresses to vote, but I know the "vagueness" is enough leeway for someone to do it.
I completely agree with Dude who said, "Honesty is the best policy but it's up to us individually to determine what is and isn't." It really does boil down to what values & morals you live by, AND responsibility.... knowing how your actions influence your circle, for good or for bad.
