Do you eat the leaves?
No, you peel them off and throw it away first, I think they are just there to make the rice a certain shape? Maybe get some flavor from them? I don't know really...
cool!! What was it called, and where did you get it?
I have no idea what they are called in English, I know what they are called in Chinese, but googling for "Zhong Zi" got me pictures of them so...
Actually, a quick wiki search got me this:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zongzi
And yeah, either make them yourself or ask a Chinese friend to make some for you!

The leaf that is used imparts flavor to the rice. Pandan leaves are used in Malaysia, Banana leaves in Vietnam and so on.

For those of you in the Rancho Area, here are a few ideas. Jaspers Giant Hamburgers, off Sunris and left on Coloma. Also just before you get to Jaspers there is a mexican joint and the food is very good. Try the carnitas plate ! damn good. For some good BBq head straight to Reeds Ribs off of Bradshaw south and take a right on Keifer. I do know my BBq and this is some mighty good grub. Or if you want to try the ultimate of ultimate hamburgers, call ahead to Jerry's Tumbleweed Inn and have one of their hand formed burgers. Just heaven, real hamburger heaven. This isn't your candy assed, in-out, manderas,BJs, Malabar girly burger joint. It is a dive bar where there might be some people drinking at 9 in the morning, so be cautioned. Just call ahead and get it to go, P.S. You WILL need a Bib and washcloth to eat this one!!!! Enjoy

Indian food should come with a pillow. I absolutely love it, but you get that wierd 'curry buzz', and then crash.

Is that "curry buzz" what makes you go back for 2 more servings?
