David,
Did you buy your scooter? What did you get? The Bev250?

I'm on a waiting list at A&S for a BV250. I test-rode the Fly150 (which they will let anybody test) and, once I demonstrated some competency (i.e., I wouldn't destroy their inventory), a BV250. Both were in the parking lot so I didn't get a great feel of the BV250 but I'm happy with its styling, performance, amenities, and price. I expect that when they receive new inventory, I'll give it a better test-ride and then make a final decision. I'll keep you posted!

I was over at A&S a couple of weeks ago. I can't believe how low their scooter inventory is. The other two places I went to had almost nothing left in scooters.
I saw the Bev250 when I was at A&S and was wondering if you had bought one yet. It is a nice looking scooter and it looks very comfortable.
How long until they can get one in for you?

Not sure. I eMailed the sales rep earlier today so I hope to find out soon. I've found that buying a scooter (at least an Italian one) is VERY different than buying a car. With cars, you know exactly what features each model year will have and in what colors. Neither the dealer nor Piaggo/Vespa USA (in New York) know much about what's coming across the Atlantic.

When I left a deposit in late July, he said sometime in mid-August. Fingers crossed but I'll let you know!

I just got my 600 mile break in service today...at 800 miles since I didn't call in time to match the 600. Anyway...they have ONE Vespa GT 250 but it has $5,000 in accessories which puts it at almost $12,000. The salesman showed me the BV500...I'm going to consider the 250 for next year. It's about $6000 out the door.

Wow! What kind of accessories can come up to approx $4000 over MSRP? A LCD TV?... Gold cup holder? On board navigation? I have a friend at my company who bougt a 250 Vespa almost a month ago at A&S. She loves it

I got my first service two weeks ago. It was supposed to be at 600 miles. I didn't get it in until I was at approx 950. There were taking service appts for 5 weeks out.

I've seen that GT250 -- it's insanely "tricked out" but a good looking bike. Not about to spend $12k on one though! The salesman eMailed me back to let me know he'd received (and sold) a BV500 but would hopefully get some BV250s soon. The 500 (and X9) are nice but WAY more power than I need. The BV250 is probably at the upper limit but I like how it looks and its features, etc.

BTW, you're considering upgrading already? Didn't you just get a Fly150?

I ended up with a Vespa LX150. I want more power. I just posted my scooter on craigslist and here. Fingers crossed I'll sell it and pick up a 200 or 250. I probably sat on the BV500 today to get a feel. I really like the look of the Vespa...but I'm not going to pay $12,000 for a scooter either!

I wish I originally bought the 250...oh well. I hope to sell it and pick up the 250 over the winter months when the demand isn't so high!

Um, how can you scooter owners put a price on your life? It's not your driving I worry about; it's the idiots that I see everyday on the road who almost crash into me and I own a small SUV. Some things you can't put a price on and that's your health......If you think that little helmet your wearing will save you, it won't...It will just make it easier for CHP to clean-up....
Sorry to be such a pessimist, but I have seen to many head injuries from motorcycles and if you are that concerned about gas prices, why not just carpool???? How much are you really saving when you still have to have your car for family use? Not much, I'm guessing.....

There's one in every crowd. How do you stand commuting in a car? Not only is it still quite dangerous to your person, it also eats your soul. You could just stay in bed curled in a fetal position, and be quite safe, if it wasn't for the radon.

Obviously, you aren't going to be an acutary.....My car doesn't eat my soul, but you may eat the pavement in your scooter, Scooter!

I think some of us bought our scooters with the intention that we would save money on gas. At least that was true for me. I now like to use my scooter instead of the car because it is FUN! Just because there are some bad riders out there not everyone is bad. There are terrible car drivers out there and we're not saying you're one of them. wacko.gif

70 mpg compared to my truck at 19mpg is what convinced me. And it is fun to ride as well. I ride very conservatively and I do believe that owning a scooter has made me a better driver overall. When I am driving my truck or my wife’s van I am much more aware of the other vehicles because I have to be more aware on the scooter.
I am cracking up. Petlover bought a 150 and wants a 250. I got a 250 and I look at every motorcycle I see wishing I had something bigger. But I got what I could afford and it does that job very well. I am having some fun.

You can not compare scooters to motor cycles. Not the same thing at all.... that's why we have BOTH... It is not even the same RIDE!! smile.gif

If you want a M/C get one... but it will not be the same as your scooter. biggrin.gif
