The Folsom City Library

Something is wrong where the recall-organizers are getting signatures from 9 out of 10 people they approach, and most people say they have never heard of this issue.
Is there anything that can be done to educate the public about:
1. The CC's decision process leading to the conclusion that Lion's Park is the best place for the library;
2. The support expressed by the Farley family; and
3. The cost to the city of this recall election.
It sometimes frustrates me that press coverage of Folsom issues seems very inadequate -- we have no daily newspaper of our own, and the Bee's coverage is spotty at best. Are you able to use your stature and connections to get the true, balanced facts out there in the press? Is there anything else you can do to educate citizens so we can get our library and not waste money on a recall?

How many registered voters are in Folsom ? There are 58,000 and some change.
What percent of the registered voters are necessary for the recall ? What is necessary is 5800 and some change . We have set a target for 8000 signatures because we are not sure how many of our voters might have the same problems as Dade County, Florida

I am sorry it has taken awhile to get back to you, but I along with many of my Lions colleagues were supporting the community this morning through a pancake breakfast. Perhaps we even fed you.

GOOD LUCK

The recall and petition committee members just finished our weekly meeting. Again, we are pleased with the success of the past week and at the same time very disappointed with the community costs (divisiveness). Tonight we were advised of one of the more disgusting episodes in our efforts to be heard.
There is a "relatively new" coffee shop across the street from city hall (south side of Natoma) and to the east of the 76 station known as Marguerite's Bakery-Cafe'. As I understand it, the shop is owned and operated by a young couple that is simply trying to care for their family by investing their life savings into a service that they believe would be beneficial both to the community and themselves.
Unfortunately, the couple also believed in saving the Marshall Farley Memorial Ball Field and was willing to hand out "flyers" to save the park. As a result the couple (owners) were approached and intimidated by one or more of the "senior city employees." The city employees' message---"if you want to succeed with this business, you should destroy the Marshall Farley Memorial Ball Field flyers"!!!
How utterly disgusting; is this the community that we have worked so hard to build?? I never thought that I lived a sheltered life, but perhaps I have. I am lost for words as to how to describe my disgust!!!
To my Lions, Veterans, Masonic, Shriners bretheran, and all of you in the city and Hospital that know me--I request of you one small favor. Over the next couple of days, go and visit Marguerite's Bakery-Cafe'--tell them you are there to support their right of opinion no matter what your personal position is on the city park. Let them know that you support their right to voice their opinion even if you do not agree with them.
I have never been to the shop and I have no idea whether they present a good coffee and pastry or not. But it does not matter, they should not be intimidated by the very people they support with their taxes.
I hope the city council will put a stop to this madness before it divides the community to a point that it cannot be put back together.

This site has now received over 10,000 viewings. In terms of the history of this website, are there other sites that have received more viewings? Is it any wonder that our signature collection is going so well! Please let me know if you have had other sites with more interest.

Well it just proves the old saying that "sex sells". In terms of the 16 pages vs our 12 pages, it is a matter of some people can still talk and write about sex even if they can do nothing more. If it is important, even "Grandpa Babe" can still write about sex and I will be glad to add the additional four pages.
