Agreed. Their ribs fall off the bone, have a lot of meat, and have a fantastic flavor. I've had them in Atlanta and San Francisco (at Houston's). The Banderra (Fair Oaks Blvd) version is very similar and also great. And this is a case where they're pricey, but worth it (unlike Texas West)!

I am now allowed to announce that Cheesecake Factory is going to the Galleria. They have submitted plans to the city because it wasn't planned as part of the expansion.

Expect to seem some extremely nice retailers as part of the expansion.

I had to hunt for this topic as we haven't had any new info on anchors/stores in awhile! Anyway, recently I was talking with a general contractor in the Sacramento area and they told me that there's not only a Macy's going into Elk Grove, but also into Folsom. I asked them if they were sure and they said yes. Kind of hard to believe there will be 6 Macy's in the Sacramento area, but this person is a pretty good source Too bad, I was hoping for a Dillard's (much better than Macy's).

I'd be surprised if a Macy's opens at Palladio unless the Sunrise location elects to "relocate" to Folsom.

I hate to break it to you, but currently Macy's is not coming to the Palladio in Folsom. Possible plans in the future include a department store, but Elliot has repeatedly said that a department store is not necessary and no plans have been approved by the City of Folsom for one.

The Macy's in Roseville is currently adding 40,000 square feet.

It seems a bit odd to me that construction has really slowed down over at Palladio lately. For a while. trucks were there all the time "moving dirt". I know they have pushed the opening back to 2009 (from Fall 2008), but now I wonder if they have put the brakes on again for some reason. Usually construction booms in the summer months.

I, for one, would like the mall to be built soon.

Could be any number of reasons. But the bottom line is that we should not hold our breath for an opening until 2009, probably late 2009, at the earliest. Even then, only some of the stores will probably be open. These things take a long time to complete. I'm an engineer, and I know first-hand how many steps are involved in constructing a project like this. Heck, it seemed like Mama Ann's took two years to open, and it's just in a little strip mall.

I also wonder how well they are doing in finding occupants for all the stores. There seems to be a glut of commercial properties in town right now, and a lot of empty buildings.

Maybe they should just postpone it for another 5 years and wait for the demand needed to do it right.
The Kaiser hospital doesn't open until 2012, so they could just open the whole thing then and have a Nordstroms and Macys instead of whatever third or 4th choice anchors they can get right now in the rush to get something built next year.
They may need to just wait for more population growth in Eldorado Hills and Empire Ranch.
There is clearly some reason the best anchor stores are hesitant to sign up for the Palladio. They must not think there are enough available shoppers nearby to be profitable at that location.

They are not going to wait to build it. They aren't really wanting the department stores. This is a "lifestyle center" which typically doesn't include departments stores. If they do, it's usually just one. If they threw in some departments stores, then it is just another mall or an outdoor mall in this case. Which is what Elk Grove is getting. They are building this format, because it is just a nationwide trend, and these malls typically have higher sales than comparable indoor malls. However, this isn't a true lifestyle center...it's more of an outdoor mall without major anchors. True lifestyle centers don't have the usual Bath and Body Works and all the other chains that are in every mall or even the more upscale and unique malls. True lifestyle centers have specific retailers that are meant for lifestyle centers. Examples of this are: Sur la Table, Black House White Market, Lucy. Things of that nature, but those retailers still go into some regular malls since not all markets have lifestyle centers yet. Roseville will have both with the Galleria and the Fountains which gives them huge variety of stores split up into 2 different types of environments.

I'm not trying to be negative, because this is still going to be a great center and will be successful.

I just hope we get some decent stores. We have no good places to shop in Folsom. I get so tired of bargain basement big box stores. I'd like to be able to buy some nice clothes and nice household stuff (dishes, linens, etc.)

Channel 3 did a special on the mall on their 6am news, they said they will be following it up with more information about the mall, traffic, and development south of 50.

I saw it and will never get those 90 seconds back. There was nothing in that report.

It's a slow news day at Channel 3, I guess, although I found it funny (not that the event is funny) that, just before, they had breaking news of a major earthquake in Peru. Umm... that story is over 12 hours old. Breaking news?

Wasn't Arden mall orginally and open mall? Does anyone know when they enclosed it and why? I wonder if it was because of the extreme heat we get in the summer or the crazy cold hail we get in the winter?

I wish they would really rethink this "lifestyle mall". Here in the Valley we have spare the air days because of the poor air quaility in the valley -
where they keep children indoors at school,
      they cancel sporting events,
even worse, make you shut off your vehicle when waiting for your child to get out of school EVEN if you have sleeping babies in the van, when it's 100 degrees outside.

It's just crazy to build an outdoor mall when we are told to stay indoors!

So, it's been about 5 months since this thread was last active. Have there been any changes to Palladio? Does anyone know who the leasing agent is? Contact info? I have some questions about it and am looking for some information.

        Thanks in advance!

I'm wondering if Elliott is moving forward right now given the state of their primary business. In addition, the retail world is not doing that well right now and major retailers are not stepping up to sign new leases and open new stores. There are exceptions but the retailers are very pessimistic right now. 2008 is not looking like a good retail year. The media does not help that. huh.gif

Okay, so is the Palladio Mall going to be a joke? It sure seems like it to me. Bummer. I guess I can just hope Whole Foods doesn't back out.
