Your post is little more than rationalizing the bad behavior of others. Even if our expectations are lowered of our fellow man these days, we shouldn't just accept that as being the norm. If we do, our society will continue to spiral downward.

i get things wrong sometimes but the accident where chief got his things out of the car and then the next reply he got snappy about the woman being dead. I read it that the question was in the chief accident where he got the briefcase was there a dead woman.
in a fender bender getting briefcases or speakers out is no big deal but in a serious accidnet it seems like there should be a little more concern and I thought that was why the question was asked.
we would all be better off if those young boys had horses rather than cars

I guess an example would be:
Do you know everyone that goes to your church? Yes
Are you best friends with all of them? No
The question that I have been struggling with all night. And will not even pretend to have an answer for is:
If two cars are driving 60-80 miles per hour down the road.
And from this web site many people drive 65-75 on the same road.
At what point does it change from two cars independently speeding in the same direction to racing?
Is it based on the drivers age?
Is it based on the type of car?
Is it based on the fact that the drivers are friends?
Is it based on how many times they have changed lanes?
Does the law have specific criteria for racing?
Or is it like pornography, where you just know it when you see it?
Can any of you help me with this?
The fact is, the judge in juvenile court, found enough evidence to indicate that both boys were a danger to the public and ordered they be kept in custody. Enough said already!

I do however think based on the skids that these cars were well in excess of 60
Another great day in the adventure of exploration and sight.

I do have a question about the transport to the hospital though. She was taken to Mercy San Juan and not Folsom Mercy. Thankfully, we have not been paying guests at the hospital in several years. But, in the event that we do have to use one, should we not go to the one in Folsom? Is the other one better? Does the one in Folsom not have an adequate trauma center? If you are in an ambulance can you even request where you are taken?

Mercy Folsom is not a Level 1 Trauma center, Level 1 being for the critically injured. I believe Mercy San Juan is the closest one with that level of trauma support.

If you're conscious you can request a specific hospital. I did nearly 18 years ago because I thought I'd be going home that night. 2 weeks later when I was released from a different hospital after major back surgery I realized I'd made a mistake (actually I didn't realize it until I had to pay for the Ambulance ride to the big hospital). I suspect they took her to the hospital with the best trauma center.

Yea, I registered a while back but is expired before I decided to post. I have been following this post since the beginning. It is near and dear to my heart. I find that, especially after reading most of these posts, that its better to think before you spout off.
I was young and stupid once, maybe I still am? But I think its foolish to think that just because some body gets material things out of their car that they are bad people.
When a first responder arrives at the scene, in my experience the fjrst thing they do is clear the area. So if it was me and I retrieved items from my car, that does not mean I would not feel terrible about what happened.
Who's to say that other items were not gathered also? Personal effects like maybe a wallet, cell phone, or even these new very expensive ipods. If your car gets towed to an impound yard would you expect it all to be there when you returned?
I just think we all need to get out from behind our computers and enjoy the sunshine. (I'm a spoiled rich kid, I'm on my laptop outside havin a cocktail laughing at the stupid posts I'm reading)
Oh, and Otis??,
If our society is spiraling down so fast....You need to get out and volunteer your time before it's too late. I know you think that you can make a difference!

this post is as much about vallue systems of kids and parents and how the lesson is going to be learned for their careless act. if they and their parents can blow it off as a bad afternoon then its bad. it should be something that stays with them the rest of their lives
I think more than a few of us think a little about how easy it could have been some kid in our own family driving the cars
welcome chief to posting. now we have an old soldier and an indian chief. we need a construction guy and one other i forget and we could be the my folsom village people YMCA
kids are young and stupit and my kids tellme I am old and stupic but lots of years give folks horse sense and when I see stupic posts i don't get up set I just feel bad that the poster doesn't understand.

How do the boys get in an accident at the speed the police claim and then jump out of the car to grab their stuff. Then, the ambulance arrives, puts them in neck braces and takes them to the Mercy San Juan Trauma Center for the rest of the night.
I just don't understand the timeline of this part of the story.
Can anyone explain to me, at what point after the accident did this happen?

There is a big difference between retrieving personal belongings such as wallets, keys, and phones, and disconnecting fixtures. Speakers are affixed to the vehicle, aren't they? What would be reasonable to take? Seats? Tires?

So one posters says, "If people are attending to someone with injuries and there is nothing left to do except give witness statments, gather personal belongings, why is it so bad to secure personal effects?" and you say this.
It appears as if there's speculation on all sides.
