Good luck to swmr and his lawsuit. I hope the charities he chooses are gracious recipients of the school's money.

John

Frankly...Swmr...I hope you lose...You are not taking the money from the people who did not ensure your mental sanity and save you from pain....as silly as that sounds...that is what you were asking for...going thru highschool not being made fun of....WOW you would be the only person in existence to have that happen.

Frankly things happen for reason dude...If you cannot take being made fun of, at any age then you need to get some counseling to learn how to cope. You need to realize that although death threats should be dealt with, everything else comes with life. Sorry that you are a overzealous homosexual...A lot of people do not like when you are different...Doesn't make it right but it is life and helps toughen your skin...

Thank goodness you were exposed to this at a young age so you did not leave high school sheltered of the world like I did...Unfortunately for me, I was not made fun at all really and only had one situation that would qualify for harrassment. My family and I dealt with it and moved on..However, when I got out into "Adult" world I was lost. People are actually mean, evil and do not care about you and will try to cut you down to make themselves feel better...There is nothing you can do to change that...it's life and how people were improperly raised. That is the parents job to raise their child in a loving home and not tolerate small minded ignorance/putting others down.

The only thing you are doing by taking the school board to court is overwheming the already bogged down judicial system. You will make the facility over protective of every student, thus not allowing children to learn important and crucial life lessons. You will be taking away money from the school that can be spent towards after school programs, which will allow those "bad" students to be surronded by better influences and keep kids out of trouble.

The homosexual groups are not going to name a building after you and paint it in rainbow colors, gold fixtures complete with a functional disco ball....SO WHAT GIVES?...With all the buget cuts for our education system, it sickens me that you would take that money and give it to the Homo clubs and this is coming from me, someone who is bisexual...The only place this money should go is right back to the schools to help with afterschool programs or other programs that are in need. A program to teach overall tolerance...not just the sexual kind...

I know donating the money differently will not ensure change of anything but giving a lot of money to the groups you intend on, will only reinforce their already sue happy mindset!!!!!

Like a poster said earlier...I am different...yet I don't want to be treated differently, I want all the same rights...well unless those protective rights are in my favor and make others cater to MY lifestyle!!!

That assumes he will win.

Good post, DOJGal.

What if swmr made a thread... and nobody came to visit?

I really wish this one was renamed "Q&A for the Attention Hound"
and subtitled "lookitme lookitme lookitme... somebody please lookitme!"

My reply was to this:
You show me one person who says they have never done one of the above and I will show you a liar
I, unfortunately, took for granted some of the forum member's ability to use deductive reasoning in my last post. Obviously I've acted up or called a person a name, or I would have taken the time to also point that out in my reply along with never smoking pot or getting in a fight.

I have learned something today. Not everyone who can type is as intelligent as my 4yr. old .

I'm done with this pissing contest.

Good luck to swmr and his lawsuit. I hope the charities he chooses are gracious recipients of the school's money.

John

Wow...and the way most EVERYONE else read it was "show me one person who has never done at least one of the above listed items..."

You chose to argue vehemently that you've never smoked pot AND was offended by such an assertion. The poster issued a challenge that contested an "IF/THEN". "IF a person has done any of these things, should their parent(s) THEN be considered unfit?

We all dream of a world of sunshine and rainbows and peace. The problem is some people think this would be a great place to live, while others think it would be a great place to pillage.

Well said! Looks like you got the whole focus of these 17 pages summarized pretty well. Is there nothing else in the local political world going on around Folsom that this thread is always at the top each day?

Time to lock up this thread! Mods are probably too scared to do that though, they might be sued?

Great Post DOJ_GAL ...

I keep asking smwr questions that he rarely answers... unless it suits himself...

And unless something provocative comes up - this is my last post on this topic.

Lance, just remember - you are NOT representing the Gay Population with your lawsuit... We would have nothing to do with it ... The self serving undeserved support you are getting from a PAID FOR PROFIT Lawyer and the ACLU is all about LANCE , Publicity and Money ...
Enjoy your unwarranted 15 minutes--- and STOP this petty Lawsuit ... for you, the community and the schools.... and maybe some respect from the gay community ....

Cheers

Another great  day in the adventure of exploration and sight.

I apologize, I keep looking through and trying to answer all your questions and others.

If you would be so kind as to post them all in one (if you still want answers) I will get back to you.

Ok - so we are now back into your HS years ( by the way you never commented on comments about your elementary and middle school years) ---

No You are right to have reported the 3 incidents over the 4 or 5 years that you were in HS -

I just do not see how just 3 incidents ( by your own accounting ) equates to a law suite--

Violating my rights as a student, violating their own policy, violating state law. This was their second time doing so, and still did next to nothing to remedy the situation.

swmr- I really do not know what to think- you seem to want to be an advocate for gay rights in HS years - but sure seems that even your own experiences do not warrant the extremes that you are now involved in ...

I don't understand what you are trying to say. Are you talking about the extremes of a lawsuit?

What are you really all about ?

In what sense? I want to be a good uncle, father (someday), and husband. I want people to be as comfortable with me being gay as they are with me being part Chinese/Japanese; if that is too difficult for them, then I ask that they not attack me for my differences. And I want schools to be held accountable for their inaction(s) to protect students, regardless of what minority status they hold. Yes, I even advocate for the anti-gay groups to be allowed to hold their protests against us. Yes, I believe that a teacher should be allowed to engage a student and tell them what they personally think (I had a teacher tell me to remove my shirt or be suspended, but a VP stepped in and took care of the situation). I don't remember the exact quote, but it goes somehing like this:

"I may not agree with what you say, but I will fight for your right to say it."

Cheers
Ken

P.S. I hope you don't believe that when I asked you why you came out after living a 'normal life' was my personal belief that being straight is normal. I was quoting the words of another poster on here saying that gay is abnormal and straight is normal.

"We must recognize that this short life can neither be ennobled or enriched by hatred or revenge."

Thanks for your post doj gal. It's apparent that you have learned the life lessons that swmr has not, and his trying to sue somebody over high school teasing is yet another step away from learning those lessons.

DO you still feel threatened by this threat from way back? So how is a lawsuit going to solve your issue from many years ago?

Is this suite going to get back at the person who did this to you? No, They have moved on with their lives, maybe you should too?
I think it's about the money? Squeaky wheel gets the grease type of thing. If you squeal loud enough maybe they will grease you with some cash to shut up? 15 minutes of fame and hopefully hit the lottery?

I would hope to think that the people who did the harassing was sorry for it. Just think of the problems they would bring to our society they didn't change their ways.Giving people death threats just because they didn't like them. Obviously the person who did the bullying at the time didn't learn about tolerance from his/her parents.

What irks me about the lawsuit is that the school did hardly anything. I know that it is some people's decision not to tell the school administrators when they're being bullied and thats their decision. But when a victim tells the school and the school does nothing or condones it then there's a problem.

A question for people:
Would you feel upset if your kid got death threats or teased because he/she was a certain race/religion/sexual orientation/gender and the school didn't want to do anything? Even though he/she had the courage to say something about their death threats/teasing? or would you say "i was teased so its ok for them to be teased" or would you be pissed off take action against the school for not doing anything?

I know the person suing is not the parent but the victim. i wanted the situation what you would do if it was your child but the same or similar situation.

Someone earlier said that high school is supposed to prepare a student for the real world, and that the bad experiences are just part of that process.

My question to that is, am I supposed to be ok with being assaulted and recieving death threats and not alerting the proper authorities?
