Dickey's BBQ

When I ate at the Dickey's Roseville location about 9mo ago we simply went up to the counter, placed our order, took a seat and waited for our name to be called. Is the Roseville location violating Dickey's corporate policies? I don't think people here are complaining about the overall time it takes to have food at their table rather the fact the current system requires everyone to stand in line for so long when they would like to grab a seat, sit down and relax with their party. Is there any reason you couldn't go to this type of system? Seems like a very simple change and you could still have your meat carved to order. I think it would be less stressful not only for your customers but your staff as well.
Oh and by the way I think your BBQ is better than the Roseville location:)

Roseville was opened before Dickey's adopted the "move with the food" concept and their agreement with Dickey's does not allow Dickey's to enforce it with them. They have declined to move to this concept and so they continue to operate the way they always have.Ray,

Unfortunately Dickey's will not allow us to work any other way - I am thinking that the only solution is to have two meat stations but the layout currently does not provide for that.
Thanks for the compliment!
Ray
And you will receive a warm welcome as always :-)I suspected as much about American rudeness. I don't believe it would have happened 30 years ago or even 20 years ago. We have become much more classless as a society. It's unfortunate and embarrassing.
I'll be in soon for my usual sliced brisket basket with bbq beans and coleslaw, Ray. Cheers!

Why thankee! It comes from the heart :-)GREAT POST!!!
Thanks for the feedback! I will continue to look for ways to speed up the process. Some block staff are quicker than others! We are really trying hard!I tried Dickey's BBQ for the first time a couple of weeks ago and enjoyed it. I expected a long wait, but the line moved fairly quickly. I understand the complaints about the meat person being the bottleneck in the operation. My only suggestion there would be for that person, if possible, to look at an order, prepare the same meat for all orders, put it back, then move on to the next meat. When we ordered the same meat came out at least three times. An optional small menu that we could fill-out would aid in the process. By the way, the staff was very nice.

Hi TasFor me anyway, despite my issues on my visits, I have always wished the best for Dickeys, but this is a FORUM "An Internet forum, or message board, is an online discussion site where people can hold conversations in the form of posted messages." No one likes negative things, but it is what it is in peoples opinion. I am extremely pleased Dickys is successfull despite my experiences. I know we are not there every hour the store is open and I can assume the owner is not either and I have seen things that I ommited from my experience so it would not harm business. It's like celebrites where they have to take the good press with the bad. I hear you on how some people try and get away with things like refills and making an ice cream mess and that stuff and hopefully those people dont return once they get caught. Also, I dont expect an emplyee to get fired for overcharging-I think someone is taking things too personally. If business is doing great despite our little forum world issues, then they are doing something right.
thank you for your constructive reply... it is sometimes hard not to take things too personally, after all it is my life now - if an owner separates himself from his business and doesn't take it personally then they really don't care. What scares me about the internet is the way people use it to cause harm by building an intricate fantasy bad experience - the ice cream being out can be turned into some spiteful rant just because they can do it without fear of retribution. There are a lot of whackos out there who take pleasure from it, and businesses just have to take whatever gets thrown at them. The internet caused this, not the business owner. But the business owner suffers because of it...just my humble opinion! people are far too quick to damn instead of praise. If we looked for the good in everything instead of the bad the world would be a much better place!

I had lunch there yesterday and was bummed about the pickles. Asked why, and when I found out why, sadly I wasn't too surprised to hear the reason. I too have seen kids filling up the yellow cups with pickles. Filling them with ice cream. The parents sitting there watching. And never saying a word. Makes me wonder when was the switch flipped that made us think we are an entitled society? I have to believe that if I ever pulled a stunt like filling a 32oz cup full of 'free' ice cream, my pops would have either thumped my skull or made me sit there and eat the whole dang thing, and then make me go and apologize to the owners for being very selfish. Parents around here just don't get it anymore. Sad.
One of the reasons I hate eating out at buffets and seeing the amount of food that gets wasted. I'm glad to see you had a responsible parent. THey are few and far between these days.

I don't eat much barbecue these days, but was at a party yesterday catered by Dickey's. The brisket was fantastic! Loved every bite. I think I od'd.

Love the brisket! I like to mix the sliced with the chopped so you get the solid pieces but still get the juiciness of the chopped.
We used them for catering last month and it was fantastic. We're using them again this weekend for a family reunion.
