He also said the 250 would be fine for a 295 lb man on the freeway at 65mph.

I've had my Piaggio (Italian) for almost a week and have been very impressed by its performance, fit, and finish.

A whole week? As they say, if anything is going to wrong, it will probably go wrong in the first 5 days. tongue.gif

I seriously doubt the 200 will and the 250 is questionable. At 290 lbs, you're either looking at a large scooter (500 range) or a small motorcycle.

I really don't want a motorcycle, I like the concept of the scooter. That little bit of geek in me likes the vintage 50's style. Plus a motorcycle is just too fast and I don't trust myself to keep my speed down.

I wonder what Mikey from American Chopper\Orange County Choppers has for an engine on his Yamaha scooter. He is a pretty big guy and it seems to scoot just fine for him. I recall in the last year when Vinnie was still on the show they souped them up with better exhaust pipes but I dont recall if they touched the engines.

How big of engines can you get on most scooters?

Thinking of Mikey, a recent episode where they promoted a RJR Memorial Car Show at their new shop, Mikey hooked up with the NYC Scooter Club and got them to attend (60 mile ride) and they did. They had a really cool military side car scooter and a double seat classic scooter.

smile.gif Thanks. It is a GT200L. The only differences between the GT and the GTS are the200cc/250cc and the 250cc is a fuel injection engine. Otherwise the rest of the scooter parts are the same. I get it tomorrow afternoon!

I am heavy... driving a 250cc with no problems. I get up hwy 50 climbing up the ElDorado Hill maintaining 55mph (I get up to 70mph before starting the incline)
I got it up to 75mph on the hwy 50 yesterday (briefly - just because I could rolleyes.gif ). Usually on hwy 50 I ride in the right lane and usually go between 60-65.
Today I got stopped by the ElDorado County Sheriff. He saw me turning left against a red light. I was waiting forever and the light did not sense me. I waited until it was safe and made my turn. I don't know where he came from. When I got off my scooter I said "dang... where were did you come from"? He wasn't amused but let me off with a stern warning after showing him my permit, ins card and registration.

David - cool scooter! I was wondering if you got it (we were gone the last couple weeks). Pet Lover -- great scooter also.

on the real cold days I put on chaps, a sweat jacket, a leather jacket, glove liners, leather gloves, a neck warmer and sometimes a bandanna over my face if its really icy cold cause that cold can really get painful in the wind when you're moving fast

A car.
